Sri Lanka doctors battle dengue fever 

Cases of dengue fever have increased dramatically around the world in the last few decades. The virus that causes the disease is transmitted by mosquito bites and more than 2.5 billion people, more than 40 per cent of the global population, are at risk from the disease. The World Health Organisation said that there are likely to be 50 to 100 million dengue infections every year. The countries that have the highest cases are in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific where many victims are children.
