CID records statement from Lasantha's daughter currently in Australia

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers had, while in Australia to record a statement from Journalist Keith Noyahr, also recorded a statement from the daughter of slain Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickremathunga, Ahinsa Wickremathunga recently, informed sources at the CID said.
They said that the CID officers, who are currently in Australia to obtain a statement from Noyahr, in connection with his alleged abduction and assault case, which is currently being heard in the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate’s Court, had recorded a statement from Ahinsa Wickremathunga in connection with the case concerning the late Editor’s murder.
The CID sources said that details regarding the statement recorded from Ahinsa Wickremathunga are to be reported to the Court when the case into Lasantha Wickremathunga’s murder is heard next on 27 September.
Two suspects who were remanded in connection with Wickremathunge’s killing, former Mt Lavinia Police Crimes Officer-In-Charge, Tissa Sugathadasa and former Deputy Inspector General of Police Prasanna Nanayakkara, were released on bail in Rs 50,000 cash each and on two sureties of Rs 1 million each.
