Gota ordered Welikada murders – CID gets hold of secret chit
The CID has found evidence to show that it was the then defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who had given direct orders for the discriminating murders at Welikada prison on 09 November 2012. It has received a ‘chit’ Gotabhaya had given to PNB’s inspector Neomal Rangajeewa through DIG Anura Senanayake, said a top official. Accordingly, it is established that Gotabhaya had given direct orders for the Welikada murders, and the evidence will be presented to courts.
Civil society representatives told the media last week that Gotabhaya should be arrested over the Welikada murders and the corrupt MiG deal. They demanded his immediate arrest and questioned the attorney general’s delay in intervening in the matter.
