Brig. Shantha Dissanayake summoned to CID!

Brig. Shantha Dissanayake of the Sri Lanka Army was summoned by the CID yesterday (29) for questioning in connection with the Rathupaswala killings.

His summoning was the result of revelations made in a statement given by Brig.  Deshapriya Senanayake, presently in remand custody. At the time of the incident in August 2013, Brig. Dissanayake was the security forces commander for the western province.

 

Brig, Dissanayake was questioned at length and has been told to be present on another day for further questioning.

 

Brig. Dissanayake was the immediate senior of Brig. Gunawardena, and after it comes to be known as to who had ordered him to shoot at the Rathupaswala protestors, the CID expects to reveal the person who is responsible. A controversial arrest is expected within days.
