An increase of HIV among youths

Health ministry said there is a sharp increase of HIV among the youths in Sri Lanka.

Director of Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and anti aids campaign Dr. Sisira Leanage said the increment of HIV can be found in youths between 15 and 25.

 

In the first five months of this year 135 HIV infected youths has been found. He said that is a sharp increase when compared with last year.

 

Meantime the health ministry has taken steps to widen its medical examinations in search of HIV infected people.

 

The aim of the program is to indulge the vulnerable groups such as women indulge in sexual profession, homosexual and people addicted for drugs to these medical examinations.
