Rajapaksa’s divide, Chamal backs government, Mahinda and Namal to the opposition
70 members out of 96 UPFA members have given consent to form the national government which is to be created between the United National Party and the United People’s Freedom Alliance. It is reported that the Rajapaksa’s consent has been divided.
Chamal Rajapaksa has given his consent to the national government and it is believed the latter would be given a ministerial position. Mahinda and Namal Rajapaksa have not shown resentment for a national government.
12 members out of the 96 who got selected from the UPFA represent residual parties and the balance 84 represent the SLFP. Therefore only 14 members of the SLFP have objected for the national government.
All ministerial positions, state minister positions and deputy minister positions would be known once the parliament is convened on the 1st of September and it is believed that all ministers would be sworn in on the 4th.
