Mahinda responsible for Rs.200,000 million loss to BOC
COPE report reveals that former Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa is an accused who had defrauded more than Rs.200,000 million from Bank of Ceylon while he was the Minister of Finance.
This has been committed by allowing two companies and two NGOs to avoid paying a sum of Rs.6270 million and allowing a loans worth Rs.193,750 million for which not a single installment had been paid.
Rs.193,750 has been obtained by 33,685 persons. As such Bank of Ceylon has had to incur a loss of Rs.200,000 million.
