‘Younger brother lost to the country’s good fortune’ – Chamal

chamal“I came to understand that there still is protection of gods and Buddhas in this country on the day my younger brother was defeated. Wrong is wrong if it is done by anybody, even my younger brother. I cannot think what would have happened to the country had he won. Still, this country has the protection of the gods and the Buddhass. That is why our younger brother lost,” speaker Chamal Rajapaksa told SLFP seniors at his official residence at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte on January 14.
“None of you had the backbone to point out when the president was wrong. What you all had done was to feed on what was given and just look on. None of us thought Maithri was a person with such a backbone. Had he lost, Maithri would have been inside, just like Fonseka. Not only Maithri, they had planned to do harm to Chandrika Madam too. But, our country is fortunate,” he said while having tea with the SLFP seniors, who had been waiting for the arrival of president Maithripala Sirisena. At that time, the former president, too, had been in a different room at the speaker’s residence. The party seniors listened silently in approval to what the speaker told them.
