Move to make another corrupt man as CID director!

mahesh peraraHonest officers in the CID are concerned by a move to reappoint SSP Mahesh Perera, a corrupt policeman, as director of the CID, say the department sources.
SSP Perera is the drinking partner of Maj. Neville Silva, the most trusted man and the chief security officer of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, and he was notorious for having led the CID to serve the wants of the Rajapaksa regime.
Prior to the election defeat, Maj. Silva was a regular visitor for SSP Perera at the police mess, say senior policemen.
It is well known that SSP Perera made every attempt to cover up the Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra murder probe and to save the suspect, Duminda Silva.
During the probe, he had threatened SP Shani Abeysekera, who led the investigation, that he would be transferred to Jaffna if he tried to be too smart. As he had disregarded the threat, SP Abeysekara was transferred by SSP Perera from the CID to the Homagama police division.
That was the result of SSP Perera’s having got Maj. Silva to carry tales against SP Abeysekara to the president. However, due to strong opposition from within government ranks, the IGP was forced to return the investigation to the hands of Abeysekara.
SSP Perera goes to all casinos in Colombo, which he frequents in the nights before retiring for the day. He is notoriously known in the police department as a game-dealer. Police drivers deployed as his driver have to stay awake at Colombo casinos until early hours of the mornings.

'Why am I being ridiculed after my saving of the country?'

sumanadasa cartoon“Now everyone is writing pages of articles in newspapers commending the elections commissioner and the IGP, saying that the country was saved by them. Would there be an election to hold for them without me? The presidential election was due in 2017. Had I not given d-ropes to the former president and got his consent for the election, he would still be at Temple Trees pressing onto his charm ball. We cannot say these in public. All should comprehend these things by their intelligence levels,” said royal astrologer of the ex-president Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena to a foreign media.

“When we considered the path the country was taking, we knew that had he remained for two more years, we would not have a country left for us. Knowing that, we did this. Had Rajapaksa remained, we would continue to have good times. But, the country would have been in grave peril. Whatever is said by anyone, we love our country more than we love ourselves. To tell the truth, it was us who had ruled the country in the past nine years. We did this thinking that it would be better to handover the country to someone who could save the country after ending this lunacy,” he has made a confession to the foreign media.
