November 13, 2014
A former Tamil Tiger cadre, who had gone through the government’s rehabilitation program, has been reportedly shot dead by a sniper in Mannar, north of Sri Lanka on Wednesday night.
Sources told Colombo Mirror that 40-year old Krishnasamy Nahuleswaran has been shot “from very far apparently by a sniper, and not by pistol in the very outskirts of Mannar town, a heavily militarised area”.
“Nahuleswar was formerly a member of the LTTE police and completed the government rehabilitation program in 2012. He was with at his family home with the family when the incident took place. The army has a heavy military presence in the area and it is not possible for the army to be unaware of who carried out this attack,” Wanni District parliamentarian of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) told Colombo Mirror via phone.
The Wanni MP has also raised this issue in parliament today (MORE).
