Mervyn from frying pan into (Namal’s) fire!

namal mervinPresident’s son, MP Namal Rajapaksa is maltreating Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva, who returned to the country in a wheelchair after suffering serious injury to a foot in a fall at an elevator during vacationing in Singapore, said ministry sources.

Minister Silva is now saying to those who visit him that he has to suffer more due to the maltreatment by the president and his son, than what he had to undergo when his wound was being sutured. MP Rajapaksa has telephoned businessmen having close links with Mervyn Silva and told them to stop all dealings with the minister immediately, or else bear serious consequences.

On the orders of the young parliamentarian, a CID team is investigating the bank accounts and credit cards of minister Silva and his son Malaka. This team is also gathering information regarding the immovable assets of the minister. Mervyn Silva, who has requested the president for a meeting to discuss matters, has become heartbroken as his request had been ignored. Expressing his dejection to the media recently, minister Silva has said that this is a world where the feeding hand is bitten.

Kande Vihare Hamuduruwo brokered Hirunika-govt. deal

hirunika premachandra 15 01It was chief incumbent of Kande Vihare in Aluthgama, Batuwanhene Buddharakkitha Thera, who had acted as the intermediary in the deal between Hirunika Premachandra and the government, under which the daughter of the late presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra has been appointed SLFP organizer for Colombo Central, reports say. A weeping Hirunika and her mother had gone to the monk and told him details about the harassment they were undergoing. Saddened by their wailing, the Nayaka Thera had telephoned MP Namal Rajapaksa and asked him to come to the temple.
When the MP came to the temple, the chief incumbent has related him the entire story and asked that Hirunika be allowed to join the government on any condition. Without giving a clear answer, Namal Rajapaksa has gone to meet his father, the president, and told him how matters stand with Hirunika. In the beginning, the president did not favour Hirunika being joined into government ranks, but gave in later at the request of his son and the Kande Vihare Thera. Accordingly, Hirunika has been joined into government ranks with full conditions attached.
