Rajpal Finally Makes Real Splash At SLBC: With Pee Power, Not People’s Power

December 27, 2013
The controversial Chief Editor of state run Daily News, Rajpal Abeynayake is reported as seen with his pants undone, urinating outside a studio into the quadrangle of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

Colombo TelegraphThis had happened, while he was at the station, to host a mudslinging talkshow he does weekday mornings, which is called “People’s Power”. But it seems a call of nature made him make mud of a different kind, without using the toilets meant for people to use.
However, Colombo Telegraph is able to reveal that no official complaint was made to the higher management because his position as a Rajapaksa regime mudslinger protects him from the rules applying to others at the corporation.
Rajpal Abeynayake is a loyalist of the Rajapaksa regime and a laptop journo, as exposed by Colombo Telegraph. He got into some hot water a few years back, with some ladies hired by him and Bandula Jayasekara in Geneva, taking more than the clothes off them. They had their money and wallets stolen. A senior journalist contacted by Colombo Telegraph, sarcastically commented that compared to that incident, being given a laptop by President Mahinda Rajapaksa must have been more fun.
After he was given over the SLBC English Channel’s morning show on weekdays for an hour from 7 am, the channel has lost most of its regular listeners. Many listeners complained that the program is very low in quality in every way. Not only the mudslinging, but Rajpal’s low level of speaking skills were among the complaints of listeners.
A member of the SLBC middle management, who asked not to be named, said “He (Rajpal) is trying to make a splash and drowning our station. He can’t manage. He is not a broadcaster. We can’t do anything to correct the situation. Its a very sad situation”.
