Rules Of Cricket
By Mahesan Niranjan -November 18, 2013
The rules of the game
have been refined and updated;
even unknown to our star
cricketer of Mother Lanka.
Forgiveness, the rules define
is begged from the wronged
and felt from the heart.
When expressed unreserved,
loud and clear by offender,
claiming his guilt
and wanting to move on,
we shall refrain from
calling it a chucker.
But think of a man,
surrounded by guns,
evicted from home,
ridden in colourless van,
and hung against gravity.
His bones broken
by boots and batons,
and rifle butts of the bully,
spiced up for pleasure,
with curry powder on willy.
Demand of this man,
“Forgive, or be gone;”
The umpire shall call:
“That is a no ball!”
