Teacher an award winner climbs on to roof of school against MaRa injustice -police threaten to arrest her
(Lanka-e-News-31.July.2013, 11.30PM) The malpractices and injustices of the Medamulana village crocodiles are so cruel and brutal that had driven even a Royal College teacher to climb on to the roof of the College at much cost to her pride and prestige. As this teacher Ms. Kalyani Dissanayake and three others had been meted out injustice when transfers were being effected , she had climbed on to the roof of the two storied building at 7.30 a.m. staging a fast and had remained on the roof until 6.30 p.m. yesterday.

The media had already exposed on several occasions the malpractices and corrupt activities of the present Principal of Royal College , and the aggrieved teacher is one of the witnesses giving evidence against the corrupt Principal. This sudden transfer was given to her just a day before the date of inquiry in which she was to give evidence.

Kalyani and some other teachers had been giving evidence against the Royal College Principal at the Public service commission and the Bribery Commission, and all of them had been similarly transferred. The last teacher to be given a transfer in this victimization was Kalyani. It is significant to note that all these teacher transfers had been effected grossly violating the national teacher transfer policy.
Kalyani is an award winner and has passed the examination for Principals .Besides ,she is a very competent teacher who had still not secured a Principal post.

Lanka teachers union secretary Joseph Stalin told Lanka e news at about 6.00 p.m today that discussions were held with Presidential secretariat and the education Ministry secretarial office, but the officials have stated that they are prepared for discussions only after the teacher comes down from the roof. No official had however come to the venue.

Stalin questioned whether two mattresses and an ambulance had been brought to the scene of fast in order to wait until the teacher dies ?

Finally police officers including SP Leslie Ranagala appeared on the scene , and following their discussions with her and after their promise that she can meet the Minister , she came down from the roof at about 6.30 p.m.. She was then taken in a jeep to the Cinnamon gardens police. There she had been threatened that , if the police wants they can arrest her . Later after taking a statement of hers she was released at about 7.30 p.m. Though the police promised that she could meet the Minister , no Minister had arrived at the police station.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena who is possessed of an overriding trait to blame others for his egregious blunders in the education sector had as usual berated the teacher , and said she had insulted the government service and set a bad example.

It is this lawless Medamulana regime of brutes and beasts that has created the jungle culture wherein if a teacher has to resolve her issue she must climb on to a roof , and if a farmer has to solve his problems he must climb a tree .
