One of Sri Lanka's top legal officials is calling for moves to strengthen the country's judicial system to deal with an increasing number of child abuse cases.
Statistics revealed by the attorney general's office last year showed that in 2007, there were 3,548 serious offences against children.
In 2011, there were 4,480 such offences.
