Rajapakse regime the notorious arsonists set fire to CMC files after Kachcheri, Port and Sathosa arsons
(Lanka-e-News-20.Aug.2013, 11.00PM) The despotic Rajapakse regime which has only weird and murderous solutions to the people’s and country’s burning issues has set fire to 3000 important files of the Colombo Municipal council (CMC) without the permission of even the Mayor, 18th night. It is at Colombo Kanatte (cemetery) that a bonfire has been made of these files.
When Muzzammil the mayor came to know of this arson he had instructed his members to rescue the files that were burning. Those files that were saved have been given over to the secretary of the council to examine what are those files that were attempted to be destroyed.
It is learnt that these files have been set fire to on the unlawful orders of the corrupt CMC Commissioner, Ms.Badrani Jayawardena though she had explained that this fire was necessary to clean up the CMC . However it

| had been proved that there had been most important files among them regarding the lands belonging to the CMC. However the Mayor speaking to Lanka e news said , the Commissioner has no legal right or power to destroy files . If there are unnecessary files , it is only after they are forwarded to the Municipal Committee members , and after their permission that they can be destroyed under the Municipal Council Act. The Commissioner therefore has no right to take that action unilaterally , the Mayor pointed out. A CMC member said , as there had been numerous corrupt practices and activities within the CMC , and these are files relating to them , this burning of files without permission must have been motivated by the need to conceal those malpractices. Based on information reaching Lanka e news , this Commissioner who resorted to this high handed unlawful action is a crook out and out. Moreover , she is a stooge of defense secretary Gotabaya .As with all cronies of his who are making a fast buck , so is she . Every brick that is used in the urban development constructions in Colombo , earns her a commission of fifty cents .It is learnt that out of these huge illicit earnings she is constructing a mansion at Malabe costing Rs. 35 million. She was working in the Anuradhapura divisional secretariat before she became the Municipal Commissioner . While she was there she had set a record for corruption activities . Those files against her if piled up would reach a height of 6 feet, reports say. Yet none of those monumental corrupt activities were investigated. Badrani Jayawardena is a daughter of a postal peon , and hailing from a poor family. If the Bribery commission is genuine , this is a classic case for probe on how Badrani made so much money to build a house valuing Rs. 3.5 million. |
