Inter governing party clashes in Kandy

Election monitoring body, Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE) has reported that a clash had taken place between the supporters of two UPFA candidates in Kandy.
CAFFE has stated that the clash also involved UPFA candidates Sunil Amaratunga and Linton Wijeysinghe.
The election monitoring group has reported that this is the first intra-party clash to be reported from the Kandy District in the run up to the Central provincial council elections in September.
One of Linton Wijeysinghe’s supporters has sustained injuries in the clash and has been admitted to hospital.
According to CaFFE, a police complaint over the incident has also been lodged.
