The Fourth Nuclear Power Plant referendum issue in Taiwan

Back in February the news broke that the Ma Administration had decided to allow a public referendum on the controversial Fourth Nuclear Plant, a contentious political issue for the better part of two decades in Taiwan. The news stunned the nation.
Political observers, including many from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), currently the opposition party, were quick to point out the absurdity of the government’s position.
