University Teachers Federation of Associations informed those in power by releasing the four students attached to Jaffna university who are serving detention at the terrorism intelligence unit, could escape from the human rights violation accusation made by the international community.
The students did not have in possession arms. They were not engaged in crime activities. Hence by releasing them, arrangements should be done for the university to function was said by Federation spokesperson Dr.Mahinda Mendis.
He further said, government should not make fun out of Sri Lanka. Government should not pave way for the accusations charged that government is violating people’s rights.
Due to the situation created in Jaffna, Jafna peoples, Jaffna university students Teachers are in much fear. They are facing harassments. In view of sudden arrest the normal life style is getting disturbed.
Clashes occurred from November, and the university activities came to a standstill. Many university students are interrogated by the terrorism intelligent unit.
Already 50 persons are arrested in Jaffna. Their families have made complaints to the Jaffna Human Rights Commission.
Government should not make fun out of Sri Lanka.
