Daily Defense Secretary Gottabaya Rajapkase is taking innovative roles

“He has turned out to be the Colombo Urban Council Commissioner in the name of city development, and by rehabilitating the Jaffna University students, he is taken the role of Rehabilitation Commissioner, and very soon he would take the role of President”.

Such statement was made by Democratic People’s Front Leader Mano Ganeshan at a media briefing organized by the “Sharing Powers to Unite the Country” movement, at Colombo Azath Saali centre yesterday.

He said, defense sector has arrested the university students by dragging them from their homes like animals. The main cause for this is Gothabaya.

Government should be aware if university students are not immediately released, the day is very close by, this would be spread like fire in other universities.

There is no terrorism in this country, but the only terrorism prevailing is government terrorism. This terrorism will resume and generate a non-state terrorism in the north and east of this country.

Peoples Liberation Front which is namely the JVP and Liberation tigers carried weapons against the legalized government. The Tamil Tigers attempted to originate a separate state in the north and east. Sinhala JVP attempted to capture the entire country. Both sectors carried weapons.

Both sectors struggled to capture the government entirely or in portion. Tigers had some specified areas in the north and east under their control, and similarly JVP also during their struggle had some areas in the southern part of Matara district under their control and they even governed the areas.

Demised JVP rebels are commemorated in the south; similarly tiger rebels were remembered in the north is not a fault. On this basis, ambushing the Jaffna university students and sending them to rehabilitation camps cannot be accepted. There cannot be two laws in this country. Due to this reason only the Jaffna university students are ignoring the sessions.

Government should understand this. Students should be immediately released.

During the southern struggles, the rebels of those days, had forest court in the areas which were under their control. The verdicts given for cattle and poultry robberies were much prevalent. Those carried forest rifles and performed shooting in that struggles are still inside the government.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa is much aware about this. Wimal Weerawansa cannot deny the history of this jungle rifle. If tigers have demanded for separate state, but they went beyond one step higher and demanded the entire country. Today, these southern rebels are commemorated. There is provision for this, but not in the north.

What is the reason behind this? There is only one. They are Sinhalese but the others are Tamils. Penalties are different for Tamils and Sinhalese, but both are doing the same thing.

Due to this reason, by intruding into the homes of Jaffna university students during midnight, they were arrested like catching thieves and animals and they were dragged. This actions would not be accepted in any part of the world was mentioned by him.
