Commission for Norochcholai is US$ 50 million

The company that constructed the Norochcholai coal power plant had given a commission of US$ 50 million to a high powered government politician, sources from the External Affairs Ministry said.

The monies have been taken saying it would used to construct the SLFP headquarters in Battaramulla. An official from the Chinese embassy in Colombo has made this comment to a government minister when inquired about the breakdowns at the Norochcholai plant.

The agreement for the Norochcholai coal power plant was signed during the tenure of President Chandrika Kumaratunge and the construction work was carried out under the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration.
