(Lanka-e-News-03.April.2012, 11.55PM) Though the Hambantota Port was built with a view to bringing in ships there, it finally turned out into a failed project with the whole world looking down on it. The MaRa regime has now decided to get down ships by force to this Port . The MaRa regime’s know all knight errant has taken a strange decision that from 31st March 2012, all vessels which are loaded with vehicles shall be diverted to the Hambantota Port where they are to be unloaded.The port chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrema the unscrupulous stooge of the MaRa regime know all knight errant had made an announcement today to that effect.
Earlier a decision was taken not to levy an unloading charge for goods at Hambantota Port.

| The importers of motor vehicles say, when motor vehicles are unloaded at the Colombo Port, and are transported from the Port to their sites they can load four vehicles at a time in the transporting vehicle. But under the moronic regime’s new proposal , not only they have to pay more to transport from Hambantota , but they will have to waste a lot of precious time. Moreover these vehicles which are worth many millions have no warehouse facilities for storage at Hambantota. Therefore this decision is most ridiculous and is only in keeping with the characteristic shortsighted muddling up policies of this moribund regime , they pointed out.The importers lament that by this new policy , the country stands to lose and not gain. By not charging the Port levy at Hambantota , the result is , the revenue of the Govt. is being diminished meaning that this stupid moronic Govt. which has got accustomed to being a parasite on the abysmally suffering masses will further burden the people in other ways to make good these losses .Besides who is going to bear the losses due to transport charges shooting up when transporting the vehicles from Hambantota to Colombo ? they questioned. In any event if this foolish decision of this know all knight errant who is experimenting at the expense of public funds is to be implemented the foreign shipping Companies engaged in transporting the vehicles must agree to this decision. But , so far no Company has consented, reports say. |
