The diplomatic row between Sri Lanka and the United States of America reached fever pitch by midweek, following statements made by both parties adding salt to the already festered relationship.Though US has categorically said a week ago that the US –Sri Lanka relationship is at its best for the moment: the US now has expressed its apprehension over certain statements made by several politicians including government ministers.
The latest of all comes from Wimal Weerawansa Minister in charge of Housing in the Rajapaksa Government when he called for a boycott of US (American) goods in Sri Lanka on Tuesday at a public rally organised by National Freedom Front at the Hyde Park to oppose the US-backed resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.more
