(Lanka-e-News -20.Oct.2011, 6.00PM) The Broadcasting channel of none other than Rena De Silva who is the brother of Duminda De Silva the culprit in the brutal murder of Bharatha Lakshamn has clearly confirmed with cogent evidence. The reckless uncouth and uncivilized behavior of Duminda Silva on the day of the last local body elections – the day Bharatha was killed in cold blood in public was testified to by this channel. According to the news broadcast over that channel, a friend (female) of Duminda has related thus :
‘On the day of the murder the M P (manthrithuma) came in the morning. He told to vote for the betel leaf. He had gone around to a number of houses and appeared exhausted. He came to our house while canvassing for votes for the ‘betel leaf’. When we asked him to eat and drink , he refused saying , he has to canvass many others too to vote’. Three such ‘voice cuts’ were included in that broadcast.
Clearly , this action is a gross open violation of the local body elections Act under section 81 A (5)6 (7). It is kindergarten knowledge that canvassing on the day of election is a most serious offence . Duminda is a member of Parliament , his criminal inherent nature notwithstanding , once he has reached that position be it , by fair or foul means he must respect the Parliament and the laws enacted by it. Hence , the MP himself indulging in election violations when he must set an example to others to abide by the laws is a most serious and unpardonable ‘crime’, his murders apart . Moreover , based on the ‘voice cuts’ broadcast via the Renuka De Silva’s channel , section 81 A 2- and Section 81- -7 have also been violated.
This member of Parliament who is a disgrace to the hallowed traditions of the Parliament all along has even gone that degradingly and shamelessly far as to assault the wife and mother of the candidate who polled the highest number of votes in the same election . Duminda who is a byword for rowdy and hooligan behavior , presumably stoked by the regime had even torn into shreds the dresses worn by the female victims of the assault. When Bharatha Lakshman came forward to avert the situation ,Duminda had slapped and shot him point blank killing him.

Duminda not a suspect, impartial investigation underway, says Govt. Bharatha killing:
October 20, 2011, 9:45 The government said yesterday, amidst questions why Duminda Silva MP was not a suspect in the case, it had not interfered in the Criminal Investigation Department’s investigations into the killing of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra during the October 8, local polls.
Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella responding to journalists’ queries at the weekly cabinet press briefing in Colombo said that the CID had launched an extensive investigation into the death of Premachandra and three others and 12 suspects had been taken into custody. On the specific question of why Duminda who had clashed with Premachandra, prior to his (Duminda’s) bodyguard shooting Premachandra dead, not being a suspect, the Minister said he was not aware of the specifics but observed that it may be because of Duminda’s medical condition which required hospitalisation.
When questioned further on the issue, he said that in the interest of justice it would be best if the law enforcement authorities were allowed to complete their probe in peace.
Rambukwella, in reply to allegations by Premachandra’s family members that the investigative process had been tainted in favour of Duminda, maintained that the CID had acted impartially.
