Regime’s hidden rifts surface : Basil disappears deserting the Uva elections campaign: Poor treatment to Japanese PM

LEN logo(Lanka-e-News- 13.Sep.2014, 11.30PM) While the Uva provincial elections (PC) is around the corner , the conflicts within the Medamulana Rajapakse family had deepened so much so that the SLFP national organizer and economic development Minister Basil Rajapakse had done the vanishing trick leaving everyone in the lurch at the crucial juncture, according to Temple Trees sources.
It is learnt that Basil had left everything aside suddenly and disappeared following the step motherly treatment that was accorded to him when the Japanese Prime Minister (P.M.) Shinsho Abe arrived in Sri Lanka (SL) recently. Basil had taken offence at his marginalizing during the visit of the foreign guest , while prominence and precedence was given to Medamulana MaRa’s synthetic lawyer Namal Rajapakse the ‘podiyan’ (brat).
Based on protocol , it is Basil Rajapakse , a Minister who should be given prominence and precedence over Namal who is just an M.P. Despite it , since Basil was sidelined , he had not participated in any of the functions attended by the Japanese P.M. – not even the business conference attended by the Japanese P.M. where the presence of Basil as economic development Minister was essential.
Based on Temple Trees informed sources Basil may not participate when the Chinese P.M. too arrives in SL on 18 th September . Meanwhile the poor treatment meted out to the touring Japanese P.M.is a hot theme of discussion among Diplomatic circles. It is a widely known fact that it is Japan that donated the television system to SL as well as the Jayawardena hospital , yet the P.M.of Japan who arrived in SL for the first time after 24 long years was instead of being allowed to address a Parliamentary session was accorded a welcome in the Parliamentary canteen by the Medamulana Rajapakses.
The Diplomatic circles are of the consensus that this constituted a serious affront to a powerful country like Japan that had greatly assisted SL. It is learnt that the Rajapakses had taken this reprehensible attitude towards Japan because they were kowtowing to the pressures exerted by the Chinese embassy in SL. As though to meet this scorn poured on him on the same plane, the Japanese P.M. extolled over and over Late J.R. Jayawardena when he made his address at the canteen of the Parliament.
In the course of his speech , Shinso Abe said , even his father had been a P.M. of Japan , and he remembered during his young days that in his father’s house too there was a photograph of J.R. Jayawardena , and in fact in every house of the political leaders of Japan there is one, he noted.
But for the courageous speech of J R Jayawardena ‘Nahi werana weranee,’ who steadfastly stood by Japan , made after the second world war , Japan would not have advanced this far to reach the position it is now in , Shinso Abe emphasized.
It is however noteworthy Basil Rajapakse did not attend the canteen conference , and he boycotted it. His absence was most conspicuous.
Meanwhile the seniors of the SLFP lamented , Basil Rajapakse who took over the national organizer post without giving it to Janaka Bandara Tennekoon who did yeoman service to the SLFP , had at the crucial period deserted the decisive Uva PC elections campaign , and scooted off without trace.
At the moment Namal Rajapakse had taken over the current UPFA elections campaign . The SLFP seniors are naturally questioning whether Namal who is inexperienced in politics and who knows next to nothing in that sphere can carry out this task in relation to a most decisive election .
The media coolies noted for bartering their souls most selfishly for self propulsion , who made a big din and issue about the absence of the support for the UNP at the Uva elections of a worthless non entity like Sajith Premadasa who holds no post in the UNP , have turned into stinking corpses being unable to write a word or open their mouths to utter a word regarding the fleeing of Basil Rajapakse from the Uva elections scene.
