Polls to be held under new electoral system!

President Maithripala Sirisena says that necessary arrangements are being made to hold local polls in all the electorates.
This was stated by President Maithripala Sirisena at a meeting at the President's official residence with the SLFP members of the North -Central Provincial Council.
The President points out that the people's expectations are not being fulfilled by politicians in the preferential system.They act for personal political victories before they think of the country.
Holding local elections is a victory for the people in the country, said President Maithripala Sirisena. Accordingly, the President says that he will take the necessary steps to hold the forthcoming Provincial Council polls through the divisional secretariat system and that he is committed to introducing the new system at the next parliamentary elections.
