Masses at Hambanthota take to the streets against selling of lands
A protest campaign organized by ‘Collective to Protect Hambantota People Rights’ against the move of the government to hand over Hambanthota Harbour and adjacent15,000 acres to China for a period of 198 years and depriving the employees of Hambanthota Harbour of their employment has commenced at Mirijjawila Junction.
About thousand including Maha Sangha, women have joined the campaign.
All Ceylon Ports General Workers Union has extended its fullest support for the campaign while JVP Parliamentarian for Hambanthota District Nihal Galappaththi, the President of Hambanthota Collective for People’s Rights Sisira Kumara Wahalathanthri, its General Secretary Sumith Kumara and the General Secretary of All Ceylon Ports General Workers Union Chandrasiri Mahagamage have joined the campaign.
