UNP MP resigns on behalf of Mahendran
UNP Kandy District Parliamentarian M. Velu Kumar, who also serves in Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) has suddenly resigned from his member ship in COPE say reliable sources.
He, a member of Mano Ganeshan’s party, contested the last general election as a UNP candidate and was elected to Parliament.
He has resigned from COPE as a result of the discussion held at Temple Trees for UNP members in COPE and another Member from UNP would be appointed to fill his vacancy to protect former Governor of Central Bank Arjun Mahendran say sources.
The Member to be appointed to COPE by the UNP represented COPE during the 100 day government and carried out a massive operation to defend Arjun Mahendran say these sources.
