Drug Trafficking in HKSAR : Over HK$15 Million Worth Colombian liquid cocaine haul hidden inside fruit cargo
( July 20, 2016, Hong Kong SAR, Sri Lanka Guardian) A 36-year-old man was arrested after 15 kilograms of liquid cocaine valued at HK$15.7 million stuffed into dragon fruit was seized at Hong Kong International Airport.
Customs officers yesterday inspected an air cargo consignment arriving from Colombia via the United Kingdom declared to contain 160 boxes of pitahaya fruit, at Hong Kong International Airport. Customs examined 51 boxes and 98 fruit were found with liquid cocaine. The fruit had been hollowed out to store the liquid cocaine and then sealed with glue.
The arrested suspect who claimed to be a driver was taken into custody when he collected the consignment at the airport.
