A change in the Defense Secretary post following the election

Political reports confirm a change in the defense secretary post under a UNF government following the coming General Election.

 

Therefore Hemasiri Fernando is due to be appointed as a new defense secretary. Currently Mr Hemasiri Fernando is serving as the chairman of the Peoples Bank and he is the chairman of the National Olympic Committee

for a long time. He has been serving as a secretary to many ministries.

 

Following the resignation of Hemasiri Fenando as the chairman a senior lawyer Nissanka Nanayakkara would be appointed as the chairman of the Peoples Bank. Meantime he would be appointed as a chairman of the UNP. If the current UNP chairman Malik Samarawikrama would come to parliament through a national seat and becomes a cabinet minister Nissanka Nanayakkara would be appointed as the UNP chairman.
