Stop playing games: Mahanayake to MPs

The Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter, the Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera called on all political parties in Parliament to stop playing political games such as bringing in no confidence motions.
He did so when he met Plantation Industries Minister and Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella yesterday.
He said he had hoped that both the president and the prime minister would have the courage to unite all the political parties for the sake of the country and launch people’s friendly programmes.
He also called for the immediate enactment of the 20th Amendment and a general election after that.
Mr. Kiriella said in response that Parliament was in disarray because of the sabotage attempts of some Opposition members.
