Anoma Fonseka helps Mawbima

The incumbent chairperson of Ranaviru Seva Authority has taken steps to grant advertisements to businessman MP Tiran Alles’ Mawbima newspaper, which is presently in crisis. The chairperson is having her own way despite a decision not to grant any

government advertisement to Alles’ Ceylon Newspapers.

Chairperson of the Authority is Anoma Fonseka, wife of Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka. Disregarding the government decision, she granted an advertisement to Mawbima regarding yesterday’s Ranaviru remembrance.

When Authority employees inquired from her, Anoma gave a funny answer. “Only Tiran Alles helped my husband in his court cases when he was in prison. Tiran looked after my husband, my two children and myself. He was the only person who was there for everything. Therefore, I help Tiran when he is in a difficulty, in the same manner he helped us in our time of difficulty.”

She also said that irrespective of the government decision, her stance would not change, and that the Authority would grant advertisements to Mawbima. Not only to this newspaper, she has also taken steps to give advertisements to Rivira newspaper, which openly promoted the Rajapaksa family during the previous regime, which used resources of state institutions and which still continues to appear on behalf of the Rajapaksas.
