‘B’ report to be filed against Champika!
- Wednesday, 12 November 2014
A ‘B’ report is to be filed in the Colombo Fort magistrate’s court against science and technology minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, who is demanding a constitutional amendment and threatening to join the opposition if his demand is not met, say internal sources of the CID.
The basis for this report is the financial irregularities that had taken place, as exposed by incumbent power minister Pavitradevi Wanniarachchi recently, in the purchase of coal. The CID is intending to obtain court permission to record a statement from minister Ranawaka.
At the request of the presidential secretariat, CID director SSP L.R. Ranaweera has entrusted this investigation to Sergeant U.R.S. Silva. He was stationed in Beliatta, where he was born, until mid-2006, when he has come to be attached to the CID. He is known to be an investigator of anti-government politicians, including former Army chief Sarath Fonseka, and notorious in the CID as a henchman of the Rajapaksas.
