Drugs found in the Army

A Lieutenant Colonel was arrested yesterday (Feb 22) while buying drugs from a smuggler.
Army Commander Daya Ratnayake has ordered the suspension of a Lieutenant Colonel from his duties after he was arrested by the Police in Anuradhapura with approximately three grams of heroin in his possession.

The arrested officer, who is resident of Maharagama, has been attached to Pampemadu Rehabilitation and Protective Accommodation Centre.
The two officials from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had met Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem few days ago at his office and warned him to set up a system in Sri Lanka to catch drug traffickers.
