மன்னார் மாவட்டத்தில் புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் திருச்சொரூபம் ஒன்று இனந்தெரியாதோரினால் சேதமாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மாந்தை மேற்கு உதவி அரசாங்க அதிபர் பிரிவுக்கு உட்பட்ட அடம்பன் கண்ணாட்டி கிராமத்தில் உள்ள புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் தேவாலயத்திற்கு முன்பாக கண்ணாடிப் பேழையினுள் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் திருச்சொரூபமே இனந்தெரியாதோரினால் சேதமாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த இடத்திற்கு நேற்றுமுன்தினம் புதன்கிழமை இரவு 11 மணியளவில் வந்த இனம்தெரியாத நபர்கள் கண்ணாடிப் பேழையினுள் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் திருச்சொரூபத்தை தூக்கி எடுத்து சுமார் 50 மீற்றர் தூரத்திற்கு கொண்டு சென்று நடு வீதியில் போட்டு உடைத்து சேதமாக்கியுள்ளதாக அடம்பன் பங்குத்தந்தை லக்கோன்ஸ் பிகிராடோ அடிகளார் தெரிவித்தார்.
இந்த திருச்சொரூபம் சேதமாக்கப்பட்டமை தொடர்பில் விடத்தல்தீவு பொலிஸில் முறைப்பாடு செய்துள்ளதாகவும் அடம்பன் பங்குத்தந்தை கூறினார்.
இந்த நிலையில், குறித்த வீதியில் திரண்ட மக்கள் வீதியை மறித்து போக்குவரத்தை தடைசெய்தனர். பின் குறித்த இடத்திற்கு வந்த உரிய அதிகாரிகள் மக்களுடன் கலந்துரையாடினர்.
புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் தேவாலயத்திற்கு முன்பாக பல வருடங்களாக கண்ணாடிப் பேழையினுள் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த புனித பிலிப் நேரியர் திருச்சொரூபம் யுத்தம் மற்றும் இடப்பெயர்வுகளுக்கு மத்தியிலும் எந்தவித சேதமும் இன்றி இருந்ததாகவும் அடம்பன் பங்குத்தந்தை லக்கோன்ஸ் பிகிராடோ அடிகளார் தெரிவித்தார்.
இது தொடர்பான விசாரணையை பொலிஸார் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளனர்.

Shirani barred from leaving the country

Former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake has been barred from leaving the country. The Bribery Commissioner asked the Controller of Immigration and Emigration yesterday (17th) not to allow Dr. Bandaranayake to leave the country until the investigations into the alleged corruption charges against her were completed.
A Parliamentary Committee had ruled that Dr. Bandaranayake was guilty of not declaring her assets which led to her impeachment. However, the judiciary had ruled that the Parliamentary committee was illegal and its report was nullified.
According to the law, the Commission has the right to prevent people facing bribery charges leaving the country when investigations have commenced against them.
