AUDIO: IMPLEMENTING LLRC A ‘CRUCIAL STEP’ – UK
The United Kingdom today said that the implementing of the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) will be a crucial step towards improving Sri Lanka’s human rights record.Sri Lanka will continue to attract a huge amount of attention both in the UK and other countries, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Minister of State of the United Kingdom’s Foreign office said addressing the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
She stated that the discussion in the UN Human Rights Council will be in the spirit of support towards reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
“The task now is to make concrete progress,” she said delivering a statement on the opening day of the UNHRC’s 22nd regular session which runs until March 22.
“Implementing the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission will be a crucial step towards improvement in Sri Lanka’s human rights record,” Baroness Sayeeda Warsi said.
