Former MP arrested over abduction

Matale Police has arrested the former UPFA MP Lakshman Wasantha Perera this morning upon his surrender to the police, Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told Ceylon Today Online.

Perera was arrested in connection with an election related complaint which was lodged on 26 July, ASP Gunasekara stressed. He has allegedly aided and abetted, an abduction and assault incident.

He was arrested till 6 August upon being produced to Matale Magistrate's Courts.
