India ‘betrayed Tamils’ say Tamil Nadu students

Students in Chennai held a protest this weekend, criticising India for their stance on Sri Lanka and calling for economic sanctions to be put in place.

Organised by the Tamil Youth and Students Federation, over 150 people gathered in Chennai, calling on India to empose economic sanctions on Sri Lanka.

Speaking to Tamil Guardian, one of the organisers V Prabhakaran said,

“India has been betraying the Tamils. During 2009, they helped Sri Lanka by supplying radar equipment and more. Even now they are giving military training. And just a few days ago India supported Sri Lanka at the UN.”

“India must decide whether what is more important - Tamil Nadu or Sri Lanka”.

He went on to add that “for the sake of innocent Tamils who lost their life in the genocide” the students of Tamil Nadu would continue their protests”.
