Chandrika should join the opposition with government ministers – Lalkantha

Bandaranaike Kumaratunge should join the opposition with the group of government ministers who are loyal to her, JVP politburo member and the party’s chief ministerial candidate at the Western Provincial Council, K.D. Lalkantha said.
Addressing a public meeting in Mortaumulla he has said that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was trying to make a foolish move by bringing Kumaratunge as the common candidate of the opposition at the next Presidential election.
He has explained that the opposition needs to be strengthened and it could be done if Kumaratunge joined the opposition with her group of ministers.
“People need to send home this government and they must vote for an opposition political party. The JVP has exposed all the misdoings of the government,” Lalkantha has added.

State employees asked to assist government campaign

jagath pushpakumaraThe governing party has called on state employees to assist the governing party campaign at the provincial council elections.
Secretary of the Samurdhi Officers’ Association, Chamara Maddumakaluge has said that the Samurdhi officers and the agriculture development officers at the Kesbewa divisional secretariat have asked to work for Western Provincial Councilor Jagath Pushpakumara’s election campaign.

Jagath Pushpakumara had sent out the letters to the government officers and has asked them to attend one of his meetings at the Kesbewa divisional secretariat on the 4th with 10 other members.
Using state properties for election campaign work is prohibited in the country’s law. Maddumage has said that the association will officially lodge a complaint about the matter to the Kesbewa divisional secretary and the Samurdhi director general.
