Multi billion fraud at Air force: Here is evidence: Why president silent and culprit going to be made Air force chief ?
By now , information has surfaced regarding the staggering billion rupee fraud that was committed by Gagan and his commanding officer , Harsha Abeywickrema , the former Air force commander . In the circumstances Gagan ought to be mmediately interdicted and an investigation be conducted.
Hereunder are the details pertaining to this colossal financial fraud committed by Gagan and ex Air force commander jointly.
The Air force commander Air Chief marshal Roshan Gunatileke who was Harsha Abeywickrema’s predecessor became the chief of staff on 2011 -02-27 .In 2009 , after the war concluded , the air force that was without operations secured a contract of Cairn Lanka Pvt. Ltd. affiliated to India Cairn Pvt. Ltd. which is a prominent company established for oil and gas exploration operations. When the Lanka Co. commenced its exploration operations, the Air force signed a contract for supply of helicopters providing transport.
Under the contract a sum of US dollars 2375 per hour must be paid to the Air force which included the 25% service charges. In SL rupees , this amounts to a huge sum of Rs. 308750.00 . The Air force collected this money and sent it to the public treasury . The total amount so sent was many billions of rupees.
The avaricious and rapacious Rajapakse regime that has always a hawk eye for huge cash dealings, on seeing this wanted to put its finger into this succulent pie. It launched a private aviation company by the name of Cosmo Lanka with Sajin Vaas Gunawarena with whom Rajapakses as a rule transacted their legal and illegal deals. Finally , steps were taken to transfer the contract of Cairn Lanka company to Cosmo Co.
By that time , the agreement signed with the Air force was nearly at an end, and it was almost time for its renewal. The new rates were presented by Roshan Gunatileke on behalf of the Air force , while Sajin Vaas jointly with Hayleys Co. submitted his rates.
One day , Sajin Vaas speaking to Roshan Gunatileke by phone inquired about the rate per hour that should be submitted, when Roshan had refused to disclose the rates to Sajin Vaas. The latter had then instructed Roshan to withdraw the application as a contractor that has been forwarded to Lanka Cairn Co. To this when Roshan objected , Sajin Vaas threatened Roshan by saying ,there is nothing that he cannot do through the Rajapakses. A few weeks after the veiled threat posed by Sajin Vaas , Roshan was removed from his post and appointed as chief of staff , and Harsha Abeywickrema took over as the new air force commander.
The Cairn Lanka Co . that was deriving an income of over Rs.300,000.00 per hour was deprived of that helicopter business , and Vaas Gunawardena took it over.( The true picture is , it is the Rajapakses who were behind Vaas Gunawardena in these deals) . It is the newly appointed Harsha Abeywickrema who facilitated all the operations in favor of Vaas Gunawardena , and it is Gagan Bulathsinghala his main sidekick who was the director of air operations.
The number of helicopters belonging to the Air force was 36. At that time Vaas’ company had only one helicopter. It is an incontrovertible truth that no company would like to secure the helicopter services of a Firm that has only one helicopter in preference to that with 36 helicopters. Yet , because the Air force without halting its withdrawal of its application gave a certification to the Cairn Lanka Co. that it will extend full support to Sajin’s Co. the Cairn Lanka assented to it.
The final outcome of this was : the business of the Air force was transferred into the hands of Sajin Vaas . The business then belonged to the Cosmo Lanka company of Sajin Vaas and Hayleys jointly. Consequently , all supplies of helicopters , fuel , pilots and services continued to be provided by the Air force , but the earnings did not go to the Air force but rather to Cosmo Lanka Co.of Sajin Vaas
Herein are a number of letters sent by Gagan Bulathsinhala director of air operations at that time to Cosmo Co. of Sajin Vaas which jointly operated with Hayleys Co. which constitute evidence substantiating the facts.
In one of those letters it is indicated that the Air force is agreeing to supply all the facilities , and the auditing is being entrusted to the auditing Co. of Hayleys. This was a most bizarre auditing procedure. While the Air force a government Institution is providing all the facilities , the auditing is being handled by the auditing Co. of Hayleys. It will be interesting to learn under what laws, was Gagan a government servant authorized to listen to astrological readings from the mother of the rogue?
Some more pertinent issues have proliferated now – they are :
It is the incumbent president who took over the defense ministry after the Rajapakse regime was defeated. Then why didn’t the president conduct a presidential inquiry or an investigation into this monumental fraud in the Air force , and why is he keeping silent?
What is the motive behind and the necessity that is impelling the close relative of the president , a pro Rajapakse stooge of a businessman who has now close ties with the president to try and appoint Gagan as the Air force commander ?Is it because that businessman’s son is getting married to the daughter of Gagan ? or more important than all that , is it because the businessman’s aim is like birds of a feather flock together, to join hands with Gagan ,a notorious perfidious character among the Rajapakse’s crooked blue brigade who defrauded the Air force in billions, and perpetrate a bigger scam in the future ?
Perhaps , the president may not be aware of all this as a defense minister ,but now that the cat is out of the bag , the monumental fraud that was committed within the Air force ought to be investigated. It is well for the president to bear in mind the diminution of executive powers becomes operative not during his reign , and it applies only to his successor.
In the circumstances , without talking too much and too long unduly about good governance , the executive powers vested in him duly should be utilized by the president to establish good governance , by ridding the country of corruption , bribery and frauds effectively , no matter the status or rank of the culprit . This is exactly what the people of the country , that is 6.2 million who voted for the president and elected him are earnestly anticipating from him

USA to support for searching money stolen by Rajapaksher’s from the Country
USA Security Department has pledged support to Sri Lankan Government to search information on people who have stolen country’s public money and deposited in Swiss bank during former Rajapakshe Regime with a view to bring back the money to the country. In addition to USA, India and Switzerland also have assured the government to give support in this process by providing technical and financial specialists.
In the recent past, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera has mentioned that Rajapakshe family has stolen about Rs 18 billion from the country and deposited in foreign banks and most of the information related to this fraud has now been revealed. In addition, Switzerland has also produced a list of large scale money depositors who have deposited money in their country and among them several Sri Lankans are also in the list. Sri Lankan who have suddenly withdrawn the money from Swiss banks and their wealth have been disclosed now.
A delegates from the Department of United State has recently visited the country and met the FCID officer to handover the information collected by the delegation with regards to this frauds. According to the reliable information, it will take action to expose details on large scale money stolen from the country and deposited in foreign banks.
Overall Productivity Improvement Means Change
The new Government is implementing a Plan for Change. The President obtained a mandate from the people. They also gave the people increase in income and reduction in prices. They were able to pass legislature for far reaching anti corruption methods. Action was taken to bring action against people who were suspected of corruption, inefficiency and breaking procedures that were in place to prevent corruption.
President Obama campaigned on a platform of change. America is coming right back to where it was. MR will follow suit. Much discussion has taken place in a short time. The knowledge gained by the parliamentarians is laudable. America is high up in the productivity ladder. Singer pore who we were ahead of is now one of the highest productivity in Asia. We are to consult the APO on productivity improvement. They have contributed much to the development of the World. We should access information from their web site.
We provided Fertilizer at a subsidized cost and encouraged insecticides and weedicides. We have decided a change of direction. Agricultural productivity is low. Land, capital and labor recourses must be used effectively.
Change always has a cost. Bringing a child to this earth involves pain and suffering. But the result is worth it. Just as a butterfly becomes a chrysalis and faces pain to become a butterfly. The struggle to come out of the cocoon releases fluid to bring strength and wholeness to the butterfly.
We are committed to a national government. Our constitutional reforms combat corruption and we should assess effects’ with an independent mechanism. Social reform for the underprivileged and motivation of the government servant has being carried out. Private sector illegitimate practices are being cleaned out. Stock market is being looked into for insider trading. Manipulation of market by leaking out false information is being looked to. Short time turbulence will follow with real growth as misdeamors are punished. High income earners with p0alacial houses and cars are taxed. A realistic samurdhi and housing program is introduced. These should no turning back. Read MoreExposé – Real Reason For Customs Chief Resignation…
The Laska investigation team unearthed reasons behind the sudden resignation of Director General of Customs, Jagath P Wijeweera..
Evidence has surfaced that he had personally intervened and allowed garments to be imported duty free to a factory owned by wimal weerawansa’s wife Shashi Weerawansa named “Randunu Fabrics Private Limited (PV 67321)” located in Biyagama, the factory had no BOI status and is subject to duty
Allowing owners of House fashion Mr. Preethi and Neela Jayawardena import garments at extremely low and some time zero duty rates, probably owing to the fact that Neela and Gotabaya’s wife maintain a close friendship.
Personally intervening and letting Rohan Weliwita (whose license was used by namal rajapaksa to run CSN) to import Tv and broadcasting equipment duty free which were subsequently purchased by ITN and Rupavahini on the behest of Namal Rajapaksa.
Allowing the importation of sports cars and luxury cars in containers which were directly unloaded at the gates of the Rajapaksa henchmen the investigation carried out by both the CID and the FCID are nearly complete with evidence pointing Jagath Wijeweera which will lead to his imminent arrest, his resignation will now undoubtedly be followed by his flight from sri lanka.

Murdered scribes & ‘promising’ politicos
Editorial-June 2, 2015, 7:51 pm

A crucial election is drawing near and politicos of all hues are falling over themselves to woo the media, which they obviously despise and detest at other times. It is being claimed in some quarters that the change of government in January has helped restore media freedom. But, we believe what we are enjoying at present is only an interval in hell, as we have argued previously. Respite will be over before long and we will undergo torments of inferno after the next parliamentary election. On the other hand, coercing media persons through various means into practising self-censorship is as bad as physical violence directed against them.
Neither the UNP nor the SLFP cares to probe crimes against the media. Unlike Jefferson, they would rather have governments without newspapers which refuse to toe their line. There are only two politicians who don’t pose a threat to journalists; one is dead and the other unborn.
Politicians take up the cudgels for journalists not because they are great lovers of the media; they only infantilise scribes in a bid to project themselves as knights in shining armour on a mission to save the media and gain some political mileage in the process. Their media freedom campaigns are like animal rights movements led by meat eaters!
If President Sirisena really wants to catch the killers of journalists and the perpetrators of arson attacks on media organisations, he is now in a position to do so. A special presidential commission of inquiry has been appointed to probe corruption. Why no such all-out effort has ever been made to investigate attacks on the media is the question.
Media institutions came under attack and several journalists were killed during the Rajapaksa government. A similar situation prevailed under the Kumaratunga administration as well. Journalists perished while the UNP was in power in the past. All those savage attacks on the media must be probed thoroughly and the culprits brought to justice without further delay.
The UNP, currently in power, told Parliament in 2008 that it knew who was carrying out attacks on journalists. The then Chief Opposition Whip and UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera made a special statement in the House on July 08, 2008. BBC reported his speech thus: ‘…Opposition MP Joseph Michael Perera told parliament that the attacks were carried out by a 'special team' controlled by Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka … Mr. Perera said the government should arrest the offenders and 'immediately bring them to justice'. ‘ … We are told by those in the army itself that journalists are abducted and subjected to grievous injury by none other than a special unit under the army commander," Mr. Perera, a former parliamentary speaker, said.'
The UNP-led administration which is extolling the virtues of good governance ought to probe this serous allegation if it has told the national legislature the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth or apologise to the former war-winning army commander, Parliament and the public for having uttered a diabolical lie. Let no lame excuses be trotted out. President Sirisena, who was a prominent minister of the Rajapaksa government at that time, is duty bound to ensure that a high level inquiry is conducted into the UNP’s allegation.
It is time politicians stopped making promises to probe attacks on the media and took some action. Let them be urged to fish or cut bait!
WikiLeaks: Sunday Leader MiG Deal Researcher Leaves The Country
The Sunday Leader journalist who researched the MiG deal had to leave the country after after being intimidated, according to a leaked cable from the US Embassy Colombo
“In the overheated climate engendered by the officials’ comments, several journalists and members of media organizations expressed to Embassy officers heightened concerns for their personal safety. On May 26, Ruan Pethiyagoda of the Sunday Leader communicated to Emboffs that he was being followed and had gone into hiding. Pethiyagoda had received threats recently after Sri Lankan Government officials learned he was researching a story that involved allegations of corruption on the part of Defense SecretaryGotabaya Rajapaksa in large armed forces procurement transactions. Pethiyagoda worked closely with Lasantha Wickrematunge, editor of the Sunday Leader, who was slain in January 2009. As Pethiyagoda is an Australian dual national, Emboffs contacted an Australian High Commission officer about the case, who accompanied Pethiyagoda to the airport on May 27. He is now safely outside of Sri Lanka.” the US Embassy Colombo informed Washington.
The Colombo Telegraph found the related leaked cable from the WikiLeaks database dated June 05, 2009. The cable is classified as “CONFIDENTIAL” and written by the US embassy Charge d’Affaires James R. Moore.
US embassy Charge d’Affaires wrote; “Military affairs analyst Iqbal Athas ceased writing his regular column for the Sunday Times (Colombo) several months ago because of fears of reprisals. He had sought safe haven abroad on several previous occasions, but returned to Sri Lanka and lived in hiding. Athas became fearful after the attack on Poddala Jayantha, telling told Pol Chief that he was being followed by men on motorcycles. On June 2, Athas again fled abroad.
“The GSL’s victory has emboldened Sinhalese nationalists. As the most recent intemperate statements against journalists indicate, it appears that the Government intends to continue chauvinistic rhetoric it believes will maintain its support among this key constituency. Post expects the media will continue to feel threatened and inclined toward self-censorship. Newspapers such as the Daily Mirror that previously supported the political opposition in their editorial stance, have increasingly become echoes of the government-owned press. Even the outspoken Sunday Leader has muted it anti-government stance and has muted its crusading tone, shying away from the aggressive investigative journalism that was its hallmark. We expect that an increasing number of journalists will come to the Embassy and other foreign missions for support and protection. For many of them, there appear to be few viable alternatives to fleeing the country, at least temporarily. Those who return may find that the threat against them has not diminished, as Jayantha’s case shows.” James Moore further said.
Virgins at Lak Sathosa, beware of chairman!
Kiran Atapattu, who was appointed the Lak Sathosa chairman by president Maithripala Sirisena under the ‘Yaha Paalana’ government, is a mental patient suffering from a funny sort of mental illness, reports say. Mental patients should receive mercy from public, but, Kiran’s mental illness is of a very dangerous sort. Previously, Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Saruwa Sunil was known to be suffering from this very same mental illness. Both are having an illness of craving to rape as many virgins as possible before passing on.
According to figures given by them, each of them have accounted for more than 100 virgins separately. The Lak Sathosa chairman says publicly that he will retire once his figure reaches 250. Good looking girls working in the institution have to make great efforts to stay away from him, say other employees.
Under Kiran’s administration, Lak Sathosa is facing ruin. Suppliers have suspended supplies due to non-payment for previous supplies. At most Lak Sathosa outlets, racks are empty, even the essential commodities. Suppliers say that the chairman now has to fill the racks with his two-legged items.
When complaints were made to the internal trade minister, he has said, “I can’t do anything. Kiran Atapattu is the president’s man.” Several suppliers have sent messages to the president, but no favourable response has been received yet.
After coming to know that complaints have been made even to the president against him, Kiran has told top officials of Lak Sathosa, “I cannot be expelled by carrying tales to the president. Both of us are good friends. On the night of the presidential election, the president hid in my Dodamgaslanda estate. When he was in the health ministry, I was the chairman of Triposha company. No one can carry tales and end our friendship.”
The president and Kiran may have such a friendship, but Lak Sathosa is today faced with a severe financial crisis, as the treasury has refused to grant a financial allocation requested by the institution. By now, Lak Sathosa’s outstanding payments to suppliers alone stand at one billion rupees. As a way out, Lak Sathosa branches at 200 key places in the country are most likely to be sold to the Food City chain, a spokesman for the internal trade ministry told us.
Video: Death threats to Police from Mahinda’s “stooge” Stoochers
Due to the current political situation, Mahinda’s followers have turned in to making mad and violent statements, in line with this development a similar statement has been made by Sothern Provincial Council Minister, D.V. Upul recently.
Addressing a Mahinda’s follower’s meeting held at Tissamaramaya, Upul has threatened to stone FCID officers to death starting from Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police to the last police officer. He has apparently taken umbrage at the rally and made this statement in front of Namal Rajapakshe who also attended the same rally. It is worth to note that the impunity which was conducted by the Rajapaksa acolytes when their patron was at the top position in the country which is still reflected from their violent behavior and the harsh statements being made by themselves.
Mahinda Rajapaksa is today conducting rallies in temples naming “Asheervada Puja” in order to address crowds promoting racisms and provocation among the communities. Following the same phenomenon Wimal Weerawansa, Dinesh, Udaya gammanpila and Vasu have also made several politically sensitive statements which would lead to create violence among the nation and this was further appeared at the Parliament with the harsh and filthy language used by Vasu. Now it has been developed to a state where Southern Provincial Minister Upul is making death threat to the public officers without any hesitation.
President Mithreepala Sirisena has been categorically mentioned that either SLFP or UPFA will not give nomination for former president Mahinda Rajapakshe. Under this circumstance, Mahinda’s acolytes are making statements to the media that “any how” he will contest in the upcoming election and at the same time they are tried to create violent situation in the country.
Karl Marx Was Right

by Chris Hedges
On Saturday at the Left Forum in New York City, Chris Hedges joined professorsRichard Wolff and Gail Dines to discuss why Karl Marx is essential at a time when global capitalism is collapsing. These are the remarks Hedges made to open the discussion.
( June 2, 2015, Boston, Sri Lanka Guardian) Karl Marx exposed the peculiar dynamics of capitalism, or what he called “the bourgeois mode of production.” He foresaw that capitalism had built within it the seeds of its own destruction. He knew that reigning ideologies—think neoliberalism—were created to serve the interests of the elites and in particular the economic elites, since “the class which has the means of material production at its disposal, has control at the same time over the means of mental production” and “the ruling ideas are nothing more than the ideal expression of the dominant material relationships … the relationships which make one class the ruling one.” He saw that there would come a day when capitalism would exhaust its potential and collapse. He did not know when that day would come. Marx, as Meghnad Desai wrote, was “an astronomer of history, not an astrologer.” Marx was keenly aware of capitalism’s ability to innovate and adapt. But he also knew that capitalist expansion was not eternally sustainable. And as we witness the denouement of capitalism and the disintegration of globalism, Karl Marx is vindicated as capitalism’s most prescient and important critic.
Japanese robot cat Doraemon helps ease diplomatic tensions with China
An animated film featuring the popular Manga comic book figure is playing to packed cinemas in mainland China
Just a few months ago, Chinese media denounced him as a counter-revolutionary.

Now, though, Doraemon – Japan’s beloved robot cat – is easing diplomatic tensions between Tokyo and Beijing, and breaking box-office records in the process.
The 3D animated film Stand By Me Doraemon brought in 30m yuan ($4.8m) in receipts on its opening day last Thursday, and repeated the feat the following day.
As parents and children packed out Chinese cinemas, receipts surged to 85m yuan and 88m yuan on Saturday and Sunday, surpassing the previous single-day record for animated movies, held by the US film Kung Fu Panda 2.
According to estimates, revenue from the Doraemon movie accounted for more than half of China’s total box-office revenues on Sunday, easily beating the US superhero blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Doraemon, a chubby, perennially cheerful cat from the 22nd century, has charmed generations of Japanese fans with his teleportation powers, addiction to sweet bean pancakes and array of ingenious gadgets he uses to help his hapless schoolboy friend, Nobita.
The popularity of Stand By Me Doraemon reflects an easing in tensions betweenJapan and China over ownership of the Senkaku islands and interpretations of wartime history.
China’s leader, Xi Jinping, and his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, have met twice in the past six months, raising hopes of friendlier ties between the world’s second and third-biggest economies.
In recent remarks to a Japanese delegation of tourism and local government officials, Xi said he understood the importance of people-to-people exchanges, adding China was “ready to [negotiate] with the Japanese side to advance neighbourly friendship and cooperation”.
The Doraemon film, which will be shown at 5,500 screens across China over the coming month, is the first Japanese movie to go on general release in China since 2012, when Japan’s government bought the Senkaku islands from their private Japanese owners, effectively nationalising them.
The move sparked protests in several Chinese cities and sent bilateral ties to their lowest point in decades.
Doraemon’s attempts to win over China haven’t always been so well received, however.
Last October, a Chinese newspaper accused the blue cat of political subversionclaiming his presence at an exhibition in the city of Chengdu was part of a plot to portray Japan in a kinder light as the countries traded verbal blows over the Senkakus and wartime history.
“Doraemon is a part of Japan’s efforts of exporting its national values and achieving its cultural strategy; this is an undisputed fact,” the Chengdu Daily said in an editorial. “Taking this to heart, we should be less blind and keep a cool head while kissing the cheeks of the chubby blue guy.”
In South Korea, where a ban on Japanese popular culture has been lifted in increments since the late 1990s, disputes over territory and the legacy of the second world war show little sign of easing.
A recent survey showed that mutual suspicion among the public remains high: 52% of Japanese polled said they had a negative view of South Koreans, while inSouth Korea, 73% said they felt similarly towards the Japanese.
Doraemon’s global popularity is such that in 2008 he was made an ambassador to promote Japanese popular culture overseas.
Having built a huge following in Japan since his comic book debut in 1969, he has become instantly recognisable throughout East Asia and, more recently, in the US.
The manga, created by Fujiko F Fujio, has sold well over 100m copies, making it one of the best-selling comics in the world, while the TV series has won over audiences in more than 30 countries.
Last summer, Doraemon made its US debut on the Disney XD satellite channel. In 2002, Time magazine named Doraemon one of its 22 Asian heroes.
The Two Words that Explain China’s Assertive Naval Strategy
"Active defense" was a favorite tactic of Mao Zedong. How will China use it to harry U.S. ships in the Pacific?
The just-completed Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore dwelt largely on China’s maritime ambitions, zeroing in on its construction of artificial islands in the South China Sea. In his keynote address, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter vowed to “continue to protect freedom of navigation and overflight principles that have ensured security and prosperity in this region for decades.” There should be no mistake, continued Carter, that “the United States will fly, sail, and operate wherever international law allows, as U.S. forces do all over the world.” The United States, its allies, and its partners will exercise “the rights of all nations” to their fullest, he said. That the U.S. secretary of defense traveled to the far side of the world to speak so bluntly shows how seriously Washington takes the China challenge.
