Bali nine: Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan lose appeal

Jewel Topsfield-April 7, 2015

akarta: The Indonesian Attorney-General has vowed there will be no more delays to the executions after Bali nine organisers Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan lost their last-ditch legal  appeal to save them from the firing squad.
The Australians’ lawyers have vowed to keep on fighting and will this week take legal action in the constitutional court.
However Attorney-General H. M. Prasetyo said the legal process was already done.

Asked about the planned challenge to the Constitutional Court, Mr Prasetyo told Agence France Presse there would be no more delays to the executions.
“This proves that they are simply trying to buy time. We can say they are playing with justice,” he told AFP.
The State Administrative Court of Jakarta threw out the appeal on Monday afternoon on the grounds it did not have jurisdiction to rule on presidential decrees. The prospect of Chan and Sukumaran’s lives being spared is now extremely bleak.

Their lawyer, Leonard Arpan Aritonang, said he was disappointed by the result but it would not stop the legal team’s efforts to win clemency. They will ask the constitutional court to clarify the Indonesian president’s obligations in relation to clemency.
The action will be in collaboration with human rights organisation KontraS and other non-government organisations.
Asked if the constitutional court action would postpone the execution, Mr Aritonang said : “We hope the government respects the ongoing legal process.”
However human rights lawyer Professor Todung Mulya Lubis earlier told Fairfax Media that any decision made by the constitutional court would not be retrospective and therefore would not affect the outcome for Chan and Sukumaran.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the Australian government was disappointed by Monday’s decision by the State Administrative Court.
“We understand that the legal team for Mr Chan and Mr Sukumaran is considering other legal options,” Ms Bishop said.
“Both men have undergone extensive rehabilitation and I will continue to make representations to my counterpart, just as Australia will continue to use all diplomatic options to seek a stay of execution. Again, the Australian Government respectfully requests the President to review their pleas for clemency.
"It is important that all legal processes are allowed to run their course. We respect the decision of the Indonesian Government to await the outcomes of ongoing legal challenges.”
Chan and Sukumaran will remain in semi-isolation in Besi Prison on Nusakambangan until the outcomes of the legal cases of other death row inmates are known. No date has yet been set for the execution.
The Indonesian government has vowed to kill the 10 drug felons simultaneously, because, it says, staggering the executions would affect the psychological state of the inmates.
Chan and Sukumaran’s lawyers had hoped to challenge in the Administrative Court Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s refusal to grant 64 drug felons mercy on the grounds that Indonesia is facing a drug emergency. They said he should have examined Chan and Sukumaran’s clemency pleas on an individual basis and taken into account their rehabilitation.
However, Chief Justice Ujang Abdullah upheld an earlier decision on February 24 that the court did not have jurisdiction over presidential clemency.
Professor Mulya told Fairfax Media before the decision was brought down that the legal team would have to think “outside the box” if the appeal failed: “We will have to find our way and ground to launch another legal action.”
The Judicial Commission is also investigating claims by the men’s previous lawyer that the judges who sentenced the men to death offered lighter sentences in exchange for bribes. However, that investigation is unlikely to affect the executions.
The Attorney-General’s Office is now waiting for the Supreme Court’s decision on case review requests filed by Serge Areski Atlaoui of France and Martin Anderson of Ghana.
Lawyers for Indonesian man Zainal Abidin will lodge a request for a judicial review into his case next week.
The Supreme Court says it will expedite the cases of those on death row.
Filipina maid Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso had her judicial review request rejected in days, when the process normally takes up to three months.
The Attorney-General has said that Brazilian Rodrigo Gularte is mentally fit to be executed, even though he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Chinese mafia behind red sandalwood smuggling in SL?

Chinese mafia behind red sandalwood smuggling in SL?
logoApril 7, 2015
The Indian police have found details on a Chinese mafia that smuggles red sandalwood through Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Sri Lanka which has a major demand for it in China, Japan, Middle East and the United States of America.
The investigation has found that the Chinese mafia which largely operates out of Sri Lanka have engaged several smugglers from Tamil Nadu to cut the produce from the forests and smuggle it. These smugglers in turn sell it at exorbitant prices and have a major market not just in China, but in Japan, Middle East as well.
“Once the produce is smuggled out of the forest areas a large chunk of it is taken to the ports particulary the one at Kodikarrai in Tamil Nadu and sent into Sri Lanka. From there it finds the international route investigations have also revealed.
Although not scientifically certified, one of the major reasons for the demand of red sandalwood is because it is one of the best absorbent for nuclear radiation. The very fact that China has such a major role to play in this racket is evident because since 2013 Indian police have arrested 55 Chinese nationals who have been in possession of red sandalwood.
Investigations being conducted over the years have revealed that red sandalwood is extremely rare to find.
Although there are attempts made to stop smuggling of red sanders, smugglers continue to take their chances. Moreover these smugglers which the mafia deploys are all one time operatives. They come for one operation and then leave the country. This way it is difficult to build a record on one particular individual,” the One India reported.

Chairman protects the corrupt CEO!

ranjith ruba sirisena Tuesday, 07 April 2015
Sri Lanka Telecom affiliate Mobitel’s CEO Ranjith Rubasinghe still remains in the job due to the protection he is getting from SLT chairman Kumarsiri Sirisena, the president’s brother, say SLT sources.
It is now well known that Rubasinghe, appointed CEO during the previous Rajapaksa regime, has, together with the then chairman Nimal Welgama and CEO Lalith Silva of SLT, had used millions of rupees belonging to the institution, without approval by the directors, for propaganda work to keep Rajapaksa in power. Both Welgama and Silva have resigned, but Rubasinghe remains in the job, which he hopes to do until the expiry of his service contract.
At a recent meeting of the directors, Rubasinghe has dared them to remove him from his post, which he has done at the instigation of SLT chairman Sirisena. According to the sources, Sirisena has taken Rubasinghe to meet the president some days ago.

Commenting on this conduct of the SLT chairman, a trade union leader in the institution told Lanka News Web that president Maithripala Sirisena is being destroyed by his younger brothers in the same manner the former president was destroyed by his younger brothers.

 in Beirut-Monday 6 April 2015

Islamic State (Isis) extremists were trying to consolidate their hold on Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus on Monday after three days of clashes that have seen the terror group make its deepest foray yet into the Syrian capital.
As fighting raged, the United Nations warned that an already untenable humanitarian situation was now “beyond inhumane” and that no aid had reached already starving residents since the clashes began on Friday.
The arrival of an estimated 300 Isis members has alarmed Syrian rebels, who are fighting Isis from inside Yarmouk and regime forces bombing it from outside the camp perimeter.
Until Friday, Isis had no known organised presence in the outer suburbs of Damascus. Its sudden appearance threatens the creation of a foothold for Islamic State, whose supporters have framed the surprise offensive as a liberation of the camp’s starving residents.
Many of the Isis members appear to be Syrian and their entrance to Yarmouk was facilitated by members of al-Qaida-aligned Jabhat al-Nusra, who also have a strong homegrown presence and are thought to have pledged allegiance to Isis. Jabhat al-Nusra says its members remain neutral in the clashes. However, images published on social media on Monday appeared to show the group actively involved in fighting.
Captain Islam Alloush, a spokesman for Jaysh al-Islam, one of the main Islamist opposition groups fighting against Isis in the camp, told the Guardian that 80 Isis militants had been killed in the past two days and some of its positions had been seized. “We can definitely repel the assault,” he said.

Unverified video allegedly shows parts of the Palestinian Yarmouk camp on the outskirts of Damascus following battles between Isis, the Syrian army and the anti-Isis group the Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis.

Jaysh al-Islam holds sway in much of the countryside bordering Damascus and has occasionally shelled the capital city, which is under regime control. The group is one of several power bases in an increasingly complex battlefield around the southern outskirts of Damascus that have been the scene of some of the most savage fighting of the four-year civil war.
Yarmouk, the largest Palestinian camp in Syria, has been a frequent battlezone, pitting regime forces against mainstream and Islamist rebels. Just 16,000 residents remain in the settlement, down from 200,000 before the war. Most inhabitants fled to nearby Lebanon where they now live in overcrowded refugee camps. Many are refugees for the second time, having fled what is now Israel in 1967 or 1948. Some have attempted to flee on migrant boats to Europe and Egypt.
Isis has portrayed its attack as a liberation of the camp’s embattled residents, who have been subjected to prolonged siege and starvation tactics for the past two years. But the United Nations relief and works agency (UNRWA) said: “Never has the hour been more desperate in the Palestine refugee camp of Yarmouk. We demand humanitarian access and the establishment of secure conditions under which we can deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance and that enable civilians to be evacuated.”
Syrian forces control all entrances to the north and east of Yarmouk and have largely resisted pleas by UNRWA for regular food and water parcels to be allowed in.
A video published online and purporting to be of Isis fighters in the camp showed them raiding a warehouse controlled by another militant group Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis. Stocks of food rations had apparently been withheld from starving residents. “We have come for the children of the camp and the women of the camp,” an Isis fighter shouts after uncovering stocks of flour, sugar and olive oil.
In another video, Isis fighters are shown, after apparently clearing a neighbourhood in the camp, chanting: “Patience, lands of the Levant, for after hardship comes ease.”
Photographs published by Isis sympathisers on Twitter purportedly showed camp residents holding the group’s black flag. Bashar al-Assad’s regime has unleashed more than a dozen barrel bomb attacks as well as MiG fighter sorties on Yarmouk since Wednesday, which activists say have killed civilians.
UNRWA said there was no drinking water and food assistance was below the minimum required at the camp, which includes 3,500 children among its residents. Activists said some civilians had managed to flee to other areas in the countryside near Damascus.
Salim Salamah, the head of the Palestinian League for Human Rights-Syria, and a former Yarmouk resident who fled in October 2012, said the regime’s shelling was the primary reason for civilians remaining trapped. “This use of indiscriminate weapons by the regime is the main reason behind at least 150 injuries remaining now trapped in the camp with no access to medical care or basic first aid,” he said.

saudi-king

The political crisis in Yemen is an issue between the majority Sunnis and the minority Houthi Shias. They are both Yemenis.
Houthis were equipped, trained and backed by Iran while its bitter opponent Saudi support the Sunnis turning Yemen into a battleground between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
When Houthis attacked and took over the capital Sana’a last month, Saudi Arabia swiftly responded by bombing Houthi targets causing death and destruction.
Saudi Arabia was joined by Gulf tyrants except Oman. The other Arab dictators too joined Saudi bombing .This included Egypt where the coup leader Abdul Fattah Sisi dispatched three war ships. Perhaps Sisi may be paying his gratitude to Saudi, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait for spending 11 billion   dollar to help him topple Egypt’s democratically elected Islamic government of Dr Mohamed Morsi. Sisi, an open collaborator with Israel, has more than 2500 innocent Egyptians blood on him.
Within 48 hours, Arab League which never solved any Arab issue in its history was summoned at the Egyptian Port city of Sharm el Sheikh .There they decided to establish a joint military force- certainly not to liberate Jerusalem and Palestinians.
Now the question is where this Saudi led coalition of brothers in oppression was when Israel slaughtered starving Palestinians in their repeated genocides in Gaza. No Arab dictator even condemned this Zionist barbarity leave alone helping the Palestinians.
Gaza is a small beach side strip of around 365 sq miles by the Mediterranean Sea. Sandwiched between Egypt and Israel this territory with about 1.5 million Palestinians is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Most of the inhabitants are refugees who traditionally owned their homes and lands in what we now call Israel. But they were chased out at gun point by Jewish terror gangs, and their lands grabbed by migrant Jews with the assistance of the British mandatory authority, to set up the Jewish state of Israel in Palestine in 1948.
pak-protest-yemenIsrael   invaded Gaza in June 2000 and as usual caused death and destruction. In fact Israel killing Palestinian has been no nobody’s business. The US,UK, France  and Europe  together with Arab dictators turned blind eyes to Israeli atrocities described as war crimes by   United Nations which too  remain powerless in the face of  Israeli crimes.
In one of the worst ever Israeli genocides of Palestinians on 27 December 2008 Israel, using the most sophisticated and most destructive fighter planes and weapons supplied by United States, virtually turned Gaza into a slaughterhouse.
During the 22 days of its carnage Israel killed 1,334  Palestinians one-third of them children ,injured 5,450 of whom one-third children, displaced 100,000, made homeless 50,000 ,destroyed 4,100 residential homes and buildings , damaged 17,000   (together accounting for 14 percent of all buildings in Gaza),destroyed 29 educational institutions, including the American International School, destroyed or damaged 92 mosques,1,500 destroyed shops, factories and other commercial facilities,20 ambulances, ruined 35-60% of agricultural land  and caused an estimated damage of  $1.9 billion in total estimated damages.
The destruction was suspended only in time for President elect Barack Obama to take his oaths as the new President of the United States.
On Monday 7 July 2014 Israel unleashed its latest barbaric and relentless aerial, land and sea attacks on Gaza indiscriminately killing men, women, children and the aged.
Israel has killed more than 2500 Palestinians, around 80 percent of them civilians with children accounting for m more than 70 of the more than 8000 injured –some of them very seriously. Under the ongoing massacre Israel has so far caused more than five billion dollar in damages and destroyed over 40,000 homes and displaced more than quarter million people.
What a shameful state of affairs that an Israeli minister told that they would ask Saudi Arabia and UAE to finance the reconstruction.
Video footage of elderly Palestinian women being mercilessly kicked, slapped, beaten and thrashed while children scream shocked everyone except of course the Arab dictators.
Israelis   killed families fleeing from its bombardment. .There were no places to shelter the displaced families. There was no food, no water or medicine for the brutalized people who were blockaded by all four sides by Israel.  Egypt kept the Rafa border crossing, the only exit point for the Palestinians, closed.
No Arab country sent a bottle of water. Instead   Egypt blocked food and medicine sent from kind hearted people outside Middle East.
There was eerie silence in the Middle East during all repeated massacres and destructions. Only Turkey, Qatar and Iran vehemently condemned the Zionist barbarity in Gaza.
While Arab dictators colluded with Israel, Latin American countries not only condemned but severed diplomatic ties with Israel and taken Palestinian victims to their countries to help.
This was the lowest moral depth to which  Arab dictators brought the Muslim Middle East which was pushed back several centuries due to US led invasions during the past quarter century.
yemen-deathWhat does this means? There is no more Arab Israeli conflict in the Middle East as the Arab dictators remain hand in glove with Israel in killing and crippling Palestinian resistance and    facilitating the creation of greater Israel.
The dirty job of crushing Palestinian resistance was handed over to Palestinian quisling Mahmud Abbas who arrest, torture and even kill Palestinians under the treacherous security agreement with Israel. Thus Palestinian resistance against Israeli atrocities has been virtually crippled. Today Palestinians remain sandwiched between Israelis hell bent on eliminating them and grabbing their lands and Mahmud Abbas preventing Palestinians from resisting Israeli atrocities and expansionism.
Arab dictators are least bothered about their countries, their people, Islam or Muslims leave alone helping Palestinians and liberating Palestinian lands and Jerusalem- first Qibla of Muslims and the third most important place in Islam after Makka and Madina.
They are only worried about protecting their power, comforts and their looted wealth invested in the west. Their unpopular regimes, known for their oppressions, survive only due to US support. To ensure this they readily compromise anything and everything.
This is how they sold their souls and established secret and open ties with Israel and collaborate in all its designs against the region.
They were active collaborators with United States, United Kingdom, France, Europe and Israel in their invasions and destructions of   Muslim countries and the slaughter of millions of Muslims who otherwise lived with all comforts in their own houses. Around 18 million Muslims are in refugee camps in appalling conditions today with no hope of any future for them and their children.
These wars on Muslim countries have put the Middle East several centuries behind to the benefit of Israel.
This is today’s Middle East.  Ends
Can Israel Still Scuttle the Iran Nuclear Deal?
Can Israel Still Scuttle the Iran Nuclear Deal? BY AMOS HAREL-APRIL 6, 2015
Theoretically, Benjamin Netanyahu should be pleased. After all, none of the current international action focused on Iran would have happened without him. If he hadn’t been elected as Israel’s prime minister in 2009 — and hadn’t won elections twice more, since — it is likely that no other Israeli leader would have shown such an obsession with Iran’s nuclear threat. Furthermore, no other Israeli premier would have spent so much time, energy, and resources in order to build a credible military threat to counter the Iranian nuclear program.

No. The Free-Market is very moral. It holds people responsible for their actions better than other systems.

It's Time to Get Serious About Systemic Solutions to Systemic Problems

The Huffington Post -04/01/2015
Co-Authored By James Gustave Speth

2015-04-01-1427899056-8040447-nsp.jpgIt's getting harder and harder to be an optimist. A deep economic crisis has given way to a profoundly unequal recovery. Climate catastrophe is steadily unfolding across the globe. And the work of building a racially inclusive society appears to be stalled -- indeed, in many areas, to be losing ground. All of this in an age of unprecedented technological progress, which has manifestly failed to keep its promises. If there is one saving grace, it is that the pain caused by these interconnected failures make it possible -- for the first time in modern history -- to pose the question of system change in a serious fashion, even in the United States, the faltering heart of global capitalism.

Top 3 Cheapest and Most Effective Techniques to Remove Facial Hair Naturally

Healthy Food TeamApril 5, 2015
Women who care about their appearance, go to many cosmetic treatments, waxing. Only a small part of the men are doing the same as women. Some go for pleasure, some for need. Many men and women have hair on the face. They remove them with wax, which costs a treasure.
Top 3 Cheapest and Most Effective Techniques to Remove Facial Hair Naturally
There are a number of natural ingredients that will help you how solve this problem, and it will protect you from unwanted irritation of the face, the hair won’t grow up faster. The hair of the face can be removed naturally and very effectively with sugar, lemon or simply thread of silk or cotton, and gradually weaken the hair using turmeric.

Sugar and lemon wax

This treatment has been used since ancient times in Egypt and other Eastern European countries. The treatment is similar to waxing, but you can use only sugar and lemon and is less painful, more economical and more natural.
Currently, some countries already sell prepared sugar paste, though it is very easy to learn how to prepare it at home.
You will need:
- 2 cups of sugar
- The juice of 1 lemon
- A little water if lemon juice is not enough

Preparation

wax

How to make this treatment? Put lemon juice with two teaspoons of sugar in a smaller pot. The juice should over the sugar, but if you do not have enough juice, add a little water. Heat this mixture on medium / high heat, stirring with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves completely. Check the thermometer when the mixture reaches 115 Celsius degrees.
When the liquid begins to boil, reduce the fire and wait for it to form a thick, sticky paste, but manageable, soft golden color, like honey. If there is a dark color, you burned the mixture and you must make a new one again. You should never boil over high heat for more than a minute.
Turn aside from the heat and let it cool down.
This mixture is used as wax. Apply body powder on the place you need to remove hair from, and remember that you need to clean the skin by any means. Apply the mixture to the critical area and do not wait for the mixture to be stuffy, but immediately pull in the opposite direction of hair growth.
When finished, apply a bit of moisturizing cream or gel of aloe vera to mitigate the effects on the skin. If some wax remains on the area, wash it with warm water.

Silk or cotton thread technique

This technique, known as Threading, has been used in ancient India, Egypt, and is still used by women today. It may sound strange, but it has a very good effect. Surprisingly, natural and probably the most economical method to eliminate facial hair is simply to use thread.
In the beginning you need professional help, because it is a complicated procedure, but only until you learn it yourself. When you learn this technique, you will conduct it very fast and painless.
To apply this method use silk or cotton thread, which will be used as a tie holding the follicles of the hair roots with no irritating action on the skin. For implementation of this procedure crop a long piece of thread and form a circle bound by the target area, and then follow the instructions that appear in this video.
This type of hair removal has a great advantage, after six weeks the hair will disappear, and will gradually weaken, contrary to conventional waxing. In addition, it can also be used on the face.

Turmeric mask

turmeric

This turmeric face mask is ideal for after waxing, as this spice has a role in the skin and helps to weaken the hair, so it will be a perfect addition to our treatment.
Simply mix turmeric powder with water to obtain a creamy paste, but make sure it will not dribble. Use this mask onyour skin and allow it to act for 20 minutes.
Which technique would you use?
