But, she did not Care.

And nobody could deny that her Dream.

And she was going to be a Part of IT.
Then everyone would see.
Chairman of BBS private Co. Gnanassara gets arms training at Katukurunda STF fire-range
(Lanka-e-News-03.May.2014, 11.30PM) Bodhu Bala Sena (BBS) private company chairman Galagodaaththe Gnanassara who on the 21 st received a 9 mm Brownrig automatic pistol with 50 matching bullets from Gotabaya, the criminal defense secretary of SL, had also secured training recently on how to shoot humans, according to reports reaching Lanka e news. Perhaps this is the first time in the world a 'beast' has been provided with training to shoot humans (part and parcel of 'Asia's miracle in the making' of the Rajapakses), and it is the first time in SL, a monk in Provided with robes was Last Saturday and Sunday at the Katukurunda STF fire arms training-Range (VIP aria).

arms during this training which began at 9.00 AM, Two sergeants under an ASP of the STF, Gnanassara How to use the Pistol that was taught How to aim at him and Targets had been given.

In addition, following pleas, requests and pressures exerted by Gnanassara, he was also given training in How to use a T56 Weapon.

As recently Lanka e News Biography at, so the Secretary of the Registrar of companies, Dilantha Vithanage answering queries raised by the media had confirmed that the BBS Applied to form a Company.

In the circumstances, the drunkard Monk Gnaassara leader of the private BBS Now Company has achieved another milestone in his terrorist activities and cherished Aims - he Now is an STF trained and armed Potential killer.

It is unfortunate that the Rajapakse Regime which is Rudderless, aimless and blinded by the inordinate lust for power is not only arming the religious extremists but also giving weapons training and Fanatics Based On a new Special Policy ostensibly to create religious harmony but in truth creating chaos, confusion and anarchy to exploit them to achieve its traitorous and treacherous political and power perpetuation ambitions at any cost to the country and nation.

Making Sense Of Bodu Bala Sena – Part 2

BBS
By Izeth Hussain -May 3, 2014

Colombo TelegraphIn my article of April 26 I wrote that that article was meant to be no more than notes towards making sense of the Bodu Bala Sena, a large and complex subject requiring in-depth treatment. In the present article I am continuing those notes because the BBS problem seems to have moved to the forefront of our political consciousness, replacing the position earlier held by what many Sri Lankans believed to be UNHRC diabolism. I believe that the reason why the BBS is moving to the forefront is that many Sri Lankans could be becoming aware of the possible sinister significance of the BBS’ external dimension.

The main reason why I have decided to continue these notes is the feedback I have had from a Sinhalese lady who spent decades in journalism, and though in retirement continues to have an informed interest in Sri Lankan politics. From what she wrote I gathered that she had been aware of the BBS’ Norwegian connection – to which I referred in my last article – but that had apparently been relegated to the background of her consciousness because she had come to assume that the main force behind the BBS was the Tamil diaspora. In other words, the main force behind the BBS consisted of those who are not reconciled to the unity of Sri Lanka. I am sure that that notion must be at least fairly widespread among the Sinhalese, but they dare not speak out. The BBS has blatant State backing and, far more important than that fact, it is above the rule of law. That certainly means that there are mighty forces behind the BBS, which makes it understandable that the mass of the Sinhalese dare not speak out even in favour of the unity of Sri Lanka if it means pointing the finger at the BBS. Sri Lankan politics of today are largely the politics of blue funk.   Read More
BBS becomes a company –Filthy lucre illumines their ‘Buddhist’ path

(Lanka-e-News- 03.May.2014, 11.30PM) The fanatic Bodhu Bala Sena (BBS) the extremist organization which has been classified and identified internationally as a terrorist organization has submitted an application form to the Companies registrar to register itself as a company . Since this is the first time in SL such a deadly organization had applied to become a company , the Registrar of companies had sought legal advice .

When Lanka e news did a probe into this , it is learnt that the BBS which has all along demonstrated its evil and ulterior motives via its violence and terror behind the façade of Buddhism , is now seeking to form a company because its gaze is fixed on collecting foreign funds and goods.

If the BBS is to function as a public welfare organization it is enough if it registers with the social service department . On the other hand if it is to carry on as a religious organization , it must be registered as a society of an ordinary temple , with the district secretariat, but if the BBS is to collect foreign funds and operate as an NGO , it is mandatory that it is registered with the defense Ministry .

Therefore , the BBS which is by now recognized as a terrorist organization internationally , not registered as aforementioned so far and seeking to register as a company is believed to be based on clandestine and corrupt motives prompted by the conspiracy to collect foreign funds and goods.

Indeed another media reported recently that the drunkard leader of the BBS , had consistently told his comrade monks that no matter what , if there is any avenue which opens the way for making money , that is where he is . (Lord Buddha on hearing these announcements must be turning cart wheel in his grave for he renounced his wealth and ‘prince hood’ for his religious pursuits. He indulged in self mortification and not in self ostentation . Neither did he preach or practice terror , hatred and violence like Bebedhu sena of the BBS or Prabhakaran of the LTTE ).

Incidentally , if the BBS registration as a company is approved without rejection , anybody will be able to know through the company registrar ,its registered name as well as who are those in its Board . Those details cannot be kept secret.

Pope speaks on Lanka’s extremists

I Am A Sri Lankan Muslim Extremist!

By Muhammed Fazl -May 3, 2014
Muhammed Fazl
Muhammed Fazl
Colombo TelegraphI am a Sri Lankan national by birth, a Muslim by faith and an extremist who would go all the way (to the extremes) to protect humanity, to uphold unity, to establish justice and rule of law, to protect all religions, their adherents and their places of worship etc…
Now with LTTE defunct, racist forces backed by the power hungry ruling class have created this myth of ‘Islamic extremism’ TO DIVERT ATTENTION from the theft of multi-milllion dollars of public money and the abuse of the judiciary among others, and all for the sole purpose of prolonging their hold on power and for enriching themselves with wealth that will last for 10′s of generations of the current President of Sri Lanka, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Like the West’s creation of a non-existent enemy and their subsequent creation of a ‘war on terror’ (for oil and many other reasons), Mr. Rajapaksa too has created a similar ‘monster’ (non-existent) in the eyes of the ignorant population of SL and naming it as ‘Muslim extremism‘! History has taught us that rulers rely on monks/priests for legitimacy while monks/priests rely on rulers for protection/sustenance! And knowing very well the mentality of the majority of the population, President Rajapaksa cunningly began using proxies such as BBSHela Urumaya and Ravana Balaya to create a diversion of attention from the most pressing issues faced by the poor masses every day, like poverty, graft, abuse and injustice among others.
Due to President Mahinda Rajapksa’s indirect and his proxy’s active instilment of fear and insecurity among the ‘not-so-educated’ majority of the Sinhala Buddhist population about an ‘imminent occupation’ of their motherland by ‘foreigner community’ of Hindus. Christians and Muslims (especially), it has become a greater issue ‘to be dealt with’ than bringing a hot plate of food for their deserving family and children, metaphorically that is!
Hence, instead of blind followers of racist ideologies victimizing innocent minority communities in entirety over non-existent fears/enemies, I, Muhammed Fazl, the shape and sound of this ‘Sri Lankan Muslim extremist’, urge and challenge the backbone-less and mostly corrupt law enforcement officials, racist elements cloaked in saffron-colored robes and their ruling class masters to put me on trial for ‘threats of extremism’ the country ‘faces’ in any ‘compromised’ court of law or otherwise!
While exposing the intentions of the MR government of their involvement and complicity in orchestrating a possible racial riot or communal disharmony should be important, prioritizing it among other issues would only make the opposition ‘play into the hands’ of the government. If it is to happen, let few mosques, churches and businesses of minorities burn and few lives may be lost too. But focusing on overthrowing the current despotic regime by all means, it will most certainly save this country from the ‘flames of extinction’!
As for justifying ‘’Muslim extremist’ credentials, it is all about going to all legal extremes to unite the masses, expose corruption, fight injustices, punish the perpetrators of crime and to open up new vistas for the development of this country, irrespective of race or religion! Make no mistake, for one need not be in power to bring about a change and if every right thinking citizen of this country contributes their share, well, ‘power of the people’ will indeed be a force to be reckoned with!

Enduring results of the Indian democracy project

The Sundaytimes Sri LankaSunday, May 04, 2014
In a conversation with two visiting Indian scholars this week in Colombo, the focus shifted to the seemingly easy manner in which the Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) Prime Ministerial candidate in the ongoing elections, Narendra Modi appears to have captured the ‘technocratic’ space in the Indian political consciousness.

Uthayan Editor among the RSF 100 Information Heroes

M. V. Kaanamylnathan
M. V. Kaanamylnathan had 50 years’ tough experience in journalism and had worked for every Tamil-language newspaper in Sri Lanka when he took the helm of the main Tamil daily Uthayan in 1985, two years after the civil war flared up. Dozens of members of the paper’s staff were among the conflict’s 100,000 dead. Bombings, shootings, grenade attacks and murders were used to try to silence a voice that tried to keep to a middle course between the central government and the Tamil rebels. Five years after the official end of the conflict, Kaanamylnathan, who himself escaped an attack in 2001, and his newspaper are still making waves. Last year, a series of articles on land seizures by the Sri Lankan army was followed by a brutal attack on the paper’s offices by six masked men.

A Colombian university was asked what aptitude and vocational tests are administered to persons wishing to study journalism. The response was categorical: "Journalists are not artists." These views are, however, fuelled precisely by the conviction that print journalism is a literary genre.

The day media lost its soul

 May 2, 2014
We in Sri Lanka have little to celebrate on the International Press Freedom Day, which falls tomorrow (3). Sri Lanka's abysmal rankings in media freedom have been documented in a number of international press freedom indices. Sri Lanka ranks 162nd in the Reporters Without Borders' Press Freedom Index, one slot ahead of Saudi Arabia and one behind Rwanda . The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) in its Impunity Index ranks Sri Lanka as the fourth worst place for journalists.

Secretary-General's Message for 2014

United Nations

World Press Freedom Day
3 May

Each year on World Press Freedom Day, we reaffirm our commitment to the fundamental freedom to receive and impart information and ideas through any media, regardless of frontiers, enshrined in article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Yet every day of the year sees this right under assault.
Journalists are singled out for speaking or writing uncomfortable truths – kidnapped, detained, beaten and sometimes murdered. Such treatment is completely unacceptable in a world ever more reliant on global news outlets and the journalists who serve them.
In conflict areas, journalists often wear blue uniforms and helmets so that they can be easily identified and protected against attack.  As we know from the UN’s own peacekeeping operations, the colour blue provides no guarantee of safety.
Last year 70 journalists were killed, many caught in the cross-fire of armed hostilities. Fourteen more have suffered the same fate this year.
Last year, 211 journalists were being held in prison. Some 456 journalist have been forced into exile since 2008.  And since 1992, well over 1,000 journalists have been killed -- nearly one per week.
These are alarming figures. Behind each statistic stands a man or a woman simply going about their lawful business.
There must be no impunity for those who target journalists for violence, intimidation or distorted uses of legal procedures to disrupt or impede their work.
Media freedoms must continue to be at the centre of our work to promote security, dignity and prosperity for all.
Member States are deep in discussion about the post-2015 development agenda.  This is a once-in-generation opportunity to steer the world in a more sustainable and equitable direction.
Free media, traditional and new, are indispensable for development, democracy and good governance.  They can promote transparency about the new goals that Member States will adopt – progress as well as shortfalls. Social media and mobile technologies offer new tools for accelerating citizen participation and economic and social progress.  The media’s watchdog function is essential for holding Governments, businesses and others to account.
On this World Press Freedom Day, I call on all Governments, societies and individuals to actively defend this fundamental right as critical factors in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and advancing the post-2015 development agenda.
Freedom of expression, independent media and universal access to knowledge will fortify our efforts to achieve lasting results for people and the planet.

Daily Mirror Takes Strong Stand Against Suppression Of Media

May 3, 2014
Taking one of the most strongest stands a media publication has taken in recent times, the Daily Mirror, Sri Lanka’s most circulated English daily, circulated today carried a front page in ‘reverse’ with a message at the bottom stating “only true freedom of the press can change things around” in celebration of the world press freedom day.
Daily MirrorDaily Mirrors readers were in for rude shock this morning when the paper arrived with the front page in reverse with one reader posting on Facebook saying that he “ran behind the paper man to tell him something was wrong”.
The stand comes in the wake of widespread media suppression by the Rajapaksa regime with clear instructions to media heads which include owners and editors to desist from publishing anything to do with the ruling family.
The stand against media suppression taken by the Daily Mirror is the second such visible and imagery stand taken by a print media institution after the Ravaya edition during the appointment of Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva under the Presidency of Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranathunga.
Among many other instances of such stands, The Island newspaper, another leading English Daily, to this day refers to Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake as the “ousted” chief Justice instead of using the term “former” or “43rd Chief Justice”.
The Island Newspaper in all articles referring to the Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, refers to him as ” General” to this day, in clear protest of the moves of the executive in court martialing Fonseka and the illegal impeachment of the Dr. Bandarnayake.
In its editorial the Daily Mirror also averred to the longstanding need for a vibrant journalistic culture among journalists.
“Firstly, we need to turn the searchlight inward and see what has happened to journalism here. It was once a vocation, then became a profession. But sadly, now it appears to be largely a case of by-lines or buy-lines and a business for personal gain or glory. That may be the reasons why veteran Editors believe that any training now should focus more on what is journalism than how to be a good journalists” the editorial said,
Taking a complete swipe at the ruling Rajapaksa regime the Editorial provided reasons for the suppression of the free media.
“In that spirit we could turn the searchlight on what is happening in our country. During the past nine years especially, media freedom has been suppressed to a large extent with some sections directly controlled by the Rajapaksa regime and others remotely controlled through billionaire businessmen who apparently give huge amounts of campaign funds to VVIPs in the ruling coalition”

NPC Should Have A Say In Cairn India Over Mannar Basin

| by Pearl Thevanayagam
(May 03, 2014, Bradford UK, Sri Lanka Guardian) Mannar comes under the purview of NPC (Northern Provincial Council) and it is incumbent on chief minister C.V.Wigneswaran to concentrate on the natural resources of the NE to preserve them and make sure the government does not squander it and become a pawn in the game India plays to cut itself a big pie off the newly discovered gas and oil deposits.
