An attack on democracy

It was with shock and dismay that we watched a video footage of some UNP MPs being attacked in Hambantota on Thursday following their visits to the Mattala airport and the inland port. Attackers hurled rotten eggs and stones at them and the bus they were travelling in suffered considerable damage. It was an act of terrorism which must be condemned unreservedly by one and all.
The Opposition parliamentarians' tour was, no doubt, politically motivated. The UNP has consistently maintained that the two projects are total failures. And they were on a fact finding mission to bolster that argument and make some political capital. But, they cannot be faulted for doing so; that's the name of the game in politics. As people's representatives tasked with controlling public finance, parliamentarians, regardless of their political affiliations, have a right to inspect government projects without let or hindrance. The UNP MPs had, in fact, obtained permission for their visits.
The attackers were government goons. Else, the police would have intervened to stop them. One of the pictures we carried yesterday shows some police personnel looking on while attackers are throwing eggs at the UNPers. In another picture, a UPFA politician is seen brandishing a pistol. He has claimed he rushed to the rescue of the UNP MPs on hearing that they had come under attack. Have the ruling party politicians taken over constabulary duties? What are the police there for? Has the protection of the Opposition lawmakers been outsourced to the government politicos?
The ruling party thugs responsible for Thursday's unprovoked attack must be brought to justice forthwith. A complaint against them has been made to the IGP himself, we are told. Will the police chief order their arrest and prove that the rule of law is not dead? Let no lame excuses be trotted out.
Help forgotten IDPs
Minister Rishad Bathudeen has countered the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) allegation that he was instrumental in illegally acquiring land in the Wilpattu National Park to settle some Muslim families there. Addressing the media on Thursday he stressed that he had done nothing illegal and anyone who thought there had been a transgression of the law could go to courts.
Most of the Muslims driven out of the North by the LTTE at short notice nearly twenty five years ago have become permanent IDPs in various parts of the country. It is some of those hapless people Minister Bathudeen has come forward to help. He is duty bound to do so as he is one of them besides being a parliamentarian elected by them to look after their interests. The Wildlife Department should be thanked for disputing the claim in some quarters that squatters have encroached on the Wilpattu National Park.
The BBS should, instead of vilifying Muslims and desecrating the Holy Quran, take the matter to Courts if it is confident that it has irrefutable evidence to substantiate its allegation against Minister Bathudeen. Demonstrations in front of mosques and venomous outpourings won't do.
Now that the plight of the northern Muslims languishing in temporary shelters has come to light once again, the onus is on the government to ensure that these forgotten people will be resettled without further delay. They lost everything they had before 1990, when the LTTE ethnically cleansed the North completely. They were chased away at gunpoint and allowed to carry only a few clothes with them. Their gold jewellery was snatched by marauding Tigers who also removed little girls' ear studs with pliers. They were relieved of all their cash and reduced to paupers overnight. No human rights group has championed their cause and there is no one to represent them in Geneva, where even the widows of LTTE leaders who perpetrated those crimes against civilians are invited to deliver lectures on human rights. It is nothing but a crime for anyone to try to deny those Muslims their right to be resettled or at least be accommodated in temporary shelters pending resettlement.
Expose and Isolate the Bodu Bala Sena Extremism Locally & Internationally

INSD, an international network of Sri Lankans living in Europe condemns the provocative and anti democratic activities by Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) that violates rights of the minority religious groups in general and specially rights of Muslim community in Sri Lanka.
Disturbing a media briefing conveyed by a inter religious group, the leader of the BBS, saffron clad Gnanasara not only behave in a unethical, uncivilized manner which only suited to a violent mob leader, but also brought disrepute and insult the Buddhism as well. The words he used and the way he behaved suits an underworld mafia leader and not for a Buddhist monk.
In recent times there has being many occasions of majoritarian Buddhist power used against the minority religion communities as apolitical tool by extremist groups. We take this opportunity to appreciate the democratic and peaceful manner of the minority religious groups in confronting such attacks, and would like to humbly request such groups to maintain the same manner of response in the future as well. It is clear that if these minority groups don't have such patients, Sri Lanka by now would be experiencing religious conflicts.
In the past few years BBS and other similar Buddhist extremist groups have acted violently against the religious minorities, disturbing the social coexistence on hundreds of times. But there has not being a single instance rule of law was applied to controls such groups. In the very recent incident, when saffron clad Gnanasara was publically advocating violence in the presence of the Police, all they did was to approve him by maintaining silence.
Yet, government does not hesitate to detain and come out with restrictions against the human rights activists without proper procedures. The message is very clear; Extreme religious these Groups have the patronage of the Government and no Legal actions will be taken against them. maintain by the Mahanayakes of the Tri Nikaya The deafening Silence the Violence of saffron clad in the faceoff Gnanasara and likes is an indication of the Internal erosions of the Buddhist establishments. It is also an indication of their disrespect of rights of the religious minorities.
It is a direct responsibility of the government to avoid religious conflicts from stemming out. Everyone in the Sri Lankan society will have to face the results of religious conflicts, if we couldn't bring to an end to the extremist religious violence and hate campaigns.
The extremism of the majority religion group was first used against the minority Tamils, and then Muslims and Christians. These groups also tried to forcibly enter into an event to celebrate the International Human Rights Day in Colombo. Disturbances and threats by these groups against the democratic activities of the civil society groups throughout the island is continued without any legal actions by the authorities.
There need to be a collective action to expose and condemn extremist groups like BBS. INSD as an international network of Sri Lankan in Europe take this opportunity to pledge its support and continuous contribution towards such ea campaign.

R. Yogarajan, one of the legislators who came under attack, told The Island yesterday that when parliament resumes sittings on April 24, he along with MP's Ajith P. Perera, Eran Wickremaratne, Nalin Bandara and Ajith Manapperuma, would individually table privilege motions against the Hambantota police HQI and ASP for doing nothing while they were pushed, abused, threatened and pelted with stones, rotten eggs and tomatoes, by two UPFA mobs, each numbering over a 100 persons.
"There is photographic evidence showing the Hambantota Police HQI and his men smiling, while we were being attacked," he said.
The MP said that when they were returning to Colombo after having visited the Mattala airport and the Hambantota port, they spotted the Hambantota HQI and some of his men following them in a jeep. "So Eran Wickremeratne got off our bus and beckoned the jeep to stop, but the HQI ignored us and drove off. Even though the Police did not provide security, the media team that accompanied us did their utmost by forming human shields around us, but it was of no avail due to the sheer numbers in the mob. "
Yogarajan, thanked the authorities at both the Mattala airport and Hambantota port for facilitating their visits and endeavouring to answer all questions to the best of their ability.

KP still on the Interpol red list

Former LTTE arms procurer and head of the Tiger international wing Kumaran Padmanathan alias KP is still on the Interpol red list, the media has reported.
It was earlier reported in the media that KP's name was taken off the list, but the Interpol website continues to carry his name in the list.
KP is wanted by India over the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
KP was one of the top LTTE officials and ran a global network of LTTE offices which were engaged in its weapons procurement, logistics and money laundering operations.
Initially based in Malaysia, where he set up a shipping company in 1987, he was forced to move out after the Malaysian Special Branch cracked down on LTTE activities in the country in 1990, culminating in the seizure of an LTTE ship the same year. He then moved to Thailand, which became a safe haven for the LTTE. There he established himself as the head of banking, procurement and shipping for the LTTE. He is believed to have obtained citizenship of Thailand.
KP was subsequently arrested and brought to Sri Lanka and is currently working with the government and involved in humanitarian work in the north.

Japan began in Its First Military expansion More than 40 years On Saturday, breaking a radar station Ground On Off On a Tropical Island Taiwan to resist China 's claims of Ownership of West Islands.

The Japanese defence minister, Itsunori Onodera, who attended a ceremony on Yonaguni island to mark the start of construction, suggested the military presence could be enlarged to other islands in the seas south-west of Japan's main islands.
"This is the first deployment since the US returned Okinawa in 1972 and calls for us to be more on guard are growing," Onodera said. "I want to build an operation able to properly defend islands that are part of Japan's territory."
The military radar station on Yonaguni, part of a longstanding plan to improve defence and surveillance, gives Japan a lookout just 93 miles from the Japanese-held islands claimed by China.
Building the base could extend Japanese monitoring to the Chinese mainland and track Chinese ships and aircraft circling the disputed crags.
The decision by Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, to put troops on Yonanguni shows Japan's concerns about the vulnerability of its thousands of islands and the perceived threat from China.
The new base "should give Japan the ability to expand surveillance to near the Chinese mainland," said Heigo Sato, a professor at Takushoku University and a former researcher at the National Institute for Defence Studies. "It will allow early warning of missiles and supplement the monitoring of Chinese military movements."
Japan does not specify an exact enemy when discussing its defence strategy but it makes no secret it perceives China generally as a threat as it becomes an Asian power that could one day rival Japan's ally in the region, the United States.
Japan, in its national defence programme guidelines issued in December, expressed "great concern" over China's military buildup and "attempts to change the status quo by coercion" in the sea and air.
China's decision last year to establish an air-defence identification zone in the East China Sea, including the skies above the disputed Senkaku / Diaoyu islets, further rattled Tokyo.
Japanese and Chinese navy and coastguard ships have played cat-and-mouse around the uninhabited islands since Japan nationalised the territory in 2012. Japanese warplanes scrambled against Chinese planes a record 415 times in the year through to March, the defence ministry said last week.
The United States, which under its security pact with Tokyo has pledged to defend Japanese territory, has warned China about taking any action over the disputed islets, but has not formally recognised Japan's claim of sovereignty over the territory.
French journalists freed: 'It's nice to see the sky'

Four French journalists held hostage in Syria since June last year are found blindfolded and with their hands tied, by soldiers on the Turkish border.

French President François Hollande said the Four were in "good Health" , eases the very gruelling Their conditions of captivity, and added that they would be taken to France Within hours.

"It is very nice to see the sky, to be able to walk, to speak freely and I am really happy."
In a statement, President Hollande said : "I share the joy of the Families of our compatriots who have endured ... the fear of trying this Time,"
Dogan reported that the journalists had been kidnapped by the rebel group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) but that an unknown group had brought them to the Turkish border on Friday night.
The four went missing in two separate incidents in June last year. Mr Francois, a veteran war correspondent working for Europe 1 radio, and Mr Elias, a photographer, were abducted in early June on their way to Aleppo.
Mr Henin, who was working for Le Point magazine and Mr Torres, reporting for French-German television channel Arte, were taken later that month.
Press freedom advocate group Reporters Without Borders has said that Syria is "the most dangerous country in the world" for journalists.
South Korea ferry disaster: 'Survivor'

SEOUL (THE KOREA HERALD / ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Police said late on Thursday that all messages claiming to have been sent from the sunken ferry Sewol after it went down at noon on Wednesday appear fabricated.
Investigators secured mobile phone numbers of some 271 people that are still missing from Wednesday's fatal sinking and analysed the records, according to the Cyber Terror Response Center of the National Police Agency. They found that none of the phones had been used since noon on the day of the accident.
Police analysed the phone calls, text and other messages possibly sent from mobile messengers. "We've checked over 300 phones, since some people owned more than one phone."
Hours after the ship capsized, people started claiming that they received messages from the survivors supposedly barricaded inside the doomed ferry, begging for help.

Police probe, however, found that none of them had been sent from the sunken ship. One of the fake messages was sent from a phone owned by a fifth grader in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.
The Science Ministry cautioned against text message scams that used the tragic accident to lure victims.
As of 10am local time on Friday, a total of 25 have been confirmed dead among the 475 people aboard Sewol. Some 271 people were still unaccounted for.

இந்த வகையில் கலையனின் வலையில் முன்னாள் புலியான கோபியே முதலாவதாக வீழ்ந்த நபராக கருதப்படுகிறார். விடுதலைப் புலிகள் அமைப்பில் இயங்கி வந்த கோபி என்பவர் இறுதிக்கட்ட யுத்தத்தின் பின் அரேபிய நாடு ஒன்றில் தொழில் புரிந்து கடந்த ஜனவரி மாதத்திலேயே நாடு திரும்பியிருந்தார். இந்தக் காலப்பகுதியில் தற்செயலாக இராணுவப் புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவோடு கடமையாற்றிய கலையன் கோபியை திருகோணமலையில் சந்திக்க நேரிட்டுள்ளது. இறுதி யுத்தத்தில் தப்பிய கோபி அரேபிய நாடொன்றில் வேலைக்காக சென்று 3 வருடங்கள் முடிவடைந்த நிலையிலேயே இலங்கை திரும்பி திருகோண மலையில் தனது குடும்பத்தினருடன் வாழ்ந்து வந்த வேளை கலையனின் தொடர்பு கிடைக்கப்பெற்றுள்ளது. முன்னாள் போராளி புனர்வாழ்வு அளிக்கப்படாதவர் என்ற வகையில் கோபியைத் தன் வலையில் விழுத்தி புலிகளைத் தமது கட்டுப்பாட்டில் மீள் இணைப்பு செய்யும் விடயத்திற்கு கலையன் பயன்படுத்தி உள்ளார்.
புலிக்குழுவொன்றை மீள உருவாக்கி தனது கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் வைத்திருந்து சில நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள இலங்கை பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சு திட்டமிட்டு இருந்தது. இதன் மூலம் இலங்கையிலும் புலம்பெயர் நாடுகளிலும் புலிகளின் செயற்பாடு, பயங்கரவாதம் தொடர்கிறது எனச் சர்வதேச அளவில் நிறுவ அது விரும்பியிருந்தது.
புலிகள் மீள எழுகிறார்கள் அவர்களை கடுப்படுத்தக்கூடிய பலமும் திறமையும் மெதமுலன ராஜபக்ஸக்களுக்கே உண்டு என காட்டுவதன் மூலம் தென்னிலங்கையில் அரசியல் செல்வாக்கை தக்க வைக்க முடியும். எனவும் ராசபக்ச குடும்பம் நினைத்திருந்தது.
இதற்கு கலையன் என்ற புலிகளின் முன்னாட் புலனாய்வாளர் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டார். இவரே கோபிக்கு ஆசை வார்த்தைகளைக் கூறி அரசாங்கத்தின் தேவைக்கு பலியாக்கி இருக்கிறார் எனக் கூறப்படுகிறது.
அடுத்தவர் அப்பன் என்ற நவநீதன். புலிகள் அமைப்பில் இவருக்கு பெயர் திரு. இவர் புலிகளின் கரும்புலிப் போராளியாவர். இறுதியுத்தத்தில் தப்பிய இவர் படையினரிடம் அகப்படாது புனர்வாழ்வுக்கு உட்படாது வாழ்ந்து வந்துள்ளார். யாழ்ப்பாணம் புன்னாலைக் கட்டுவனைச் சேர்ந்த இவர் புலித் தேவனின் நெருங்கிய உறவுக்காரர். கிளிநொச்சியிலேயே நடமாடித்திரிந்துள்ளார். இந்த நிலையில் ஏ 9 வீதியூடாகச் சென்ற அப்பனை இலங்கைப் புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவுடனேயே தனது காலத்தை கழிக்கும் கலையன் தற்செயலாக சந்தித்ததில் இருந்து உறவைப் பேணத் தொடங்கியுள்ளார். இதன்போது புலிகளைத் தான் மீளக் கட்டி எழுப்புவதாகவும் பழையவர்களை மீள இணைத்து வருவதாகவும் அதற்கு உதவுமாறு அப்பனுக்கும் உணர்வூட்டி அடுத்த கட்ட ஆயுதப் போராட்டத்தில் நம்பிக்கையூட்டி, இதற்கு புனர்வாழ்வுக்கு உட்படாதவர்களே நம்பிக்கைக்கு உரியவர் எனத் தெரிவித்த கலையன் புலிகளை மீள கட்டி எழுப்புவதற்கான வேலையை ஆரம்பிக்குமாறு கூறியுள்ளார்.
புலிகளின் புலனாய்வுத்துறைப் போராளியாக இருப்பது, புனர்வாழ்வுக்கு உட்படாது தொடர்ந்து தொழிற்படுவது, திருகோணமலையிலேயே தங்கியிருந்து வேலைசெய்வது என்ற அடிப்படையில் கலையனின் புலிக்கதையை அப்பனும் இலகுவில் நம்பியுள்ளார். அதன் அடிப்படையில் கோபியுடன் அப்பனும் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
இந்த செயற்பாடுகளை கலையனின் ஊடாக பாதுகாப்பு தரப்பு நகர்த்திய வேளையில் சமாந்தரமாக புலிகளின் விமானப் படைப் போராளியாக இருந்த தெய்வீகனும் புலனாய்வாளர்களால் இயக்கப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தார். இவர் இறுதி யுத்தத்தில் தப்பி வெளிநாடு ஒன்றில் பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்கிறார் எனக் கூறப்பட்ட போதும் அவரும் படையினரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு புனர்வாழ்வுக்கு உட்பட்டவர் எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. இவருடன் புணர்வாழ்வில் இருந்த மூத்த போராளி ஒருவர் தெய்வீகன் தன்னுடனேயே புனரவாழ்வுக்கு உட்பட்டு இருந்தார் என்பதனை உறுதிப்படுத்தி உள்ளார்.
தேய்வீகன் அனுராதபுர விமானப் படைத் தளத் தாக்குதலில் பங்கு கொண்ட முக்கியமானவர் என்பதோடு புலிகளின் தலைவர் வேலுப்பிள்ளை பிரபாகரனின் மிகவும் நம்பிக்கைக்கு உரியவராகவும் இருந்துள்ளார். இந்த தகவல்கள் யாவும் தெரிந்த நிலையிலேயே பாதுகாப்பு தரப்பின் பொறிக்குள் தெய்வீகன் சிக்கியிருந்துள்ளார். அந்த வகையில் புதுக்குடியிருப்பை அண்மித்த பிரதேசத்தில் புலிகளின் புதிய வாமானப் பாகங்கள் பொதிசெய்யப்பட்ட நிலையில் மீட்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. அதனைத் தெய்வீகனே காட்டிக் கொடுத்ததாக அந்த மூத்த போராளி கூறுகிறார். மேலும் புலிகளின் விமானப்படையின் கடந்த கால செயற்பாடுகள் குறித்து பெருமளவு தகவல்களை இலங்கை பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சு தெய்வீகனூடாகப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டதோடு முக்கியமான விமான பாகங்களையும் கைப்பற்றி இருந்தது. அதற்கான பிரதி உபகாரமாக தெய்வீகன் சுதந்திரமாக விடப்பட்டதாக தெய்வீகனுடன் இருந்த அந்த மூத்த போராளி குளோபலுக்கு தெரிவித்தார். இருந்த போதிலும் இலங்கையின் புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவின் கண்காணிப்பில் அவர்களின் நிகழ்ச்சி நிரலிலேயே தெய்வீகன் இயங்கவிடப்பட்டு இருந்தார்;. ஆத்துடன்; இவர் தனது குடும்பத்தினருடனேயே வவுனியாவில் தங்கியிருப்பதற்கு அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டார் என சில தகவல்கள் கூறுகின்ற போதும் அவை தெளிவற்ற தகவலாகவே உள்ளன .
இதேவேளை சாஸ்திரி தனது வலைத்தளத்தில் 2013.01.01ல் 16 மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பே பங்கு பிரிப்பும் படுகொலையும்இறுதிப்பாகம். தோடரில் தெய்வீகனைப் பற்றி இப்படி எழுதியிருக்கிறார்.
'இது இப்படியிருக்க அனைத்துலகச் செயலகம் அடுத்த கட்ட ஆயுதப் போரை நடத்தப் போவதாக கூறியிருப்பது தெய்வீகன் என்கிற நபரை வைத்துத்தான். தெய்வீகன் என்பவர் யாரென்று சுருக்கமாக பார்த்து விடலாம். இவர் புலிகள் அமைப்பில் ஒரு இளநிலை போராளி விமான ஓட்டியாக பயிற்சி பெறுவதற்காக புலிகள் அமைப்பினால் கிழக்கு ஜரோப்பிய நாடொன்றிற்கு அனுப்பி விமான ஓட்டிக்கான கல்வியும் பயிற்சியும் பொற்றவர் அதில் தேர்ச்சி பெறாததால் திரும்பவும் வன்னிக்கு அழைத்து புலிகளின் உள்ளக புலனாய்வு பிரிவில் இணைக்கப் பட்டிருந்தார். இறுதிகட்ட யுத்தத்தில் இவரே வழங்கலிற்கும் பொறுப்பாக இருந்தவர். புலிகள் அமைப்பின் இறுதி முயற்சியான ஆனந்த புரம் ஊடறுப்பு சமர் நடந்தவேளை அதற்கு தலைவர் பிரபாகரனே நேடியாக நின்று கட்டளைகளை வழங்கியிருந்ததும் அது தோல்வியில் முடிந்து புலிகள் அமைப்பின் முன்னணி தளபதிகளும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான போராளிகளும் பலியானதோடு தலைவர் பிரபாரன் உயிர் தப்பியிருந்தார். அந்த சண்டைக்காக மேலதிக ஆயுத மற்றும் காயமடைந்தவர்களிற்கான அவசர மருத்துவ உபகரணங்களை வழங்குமாறு களத்தில் நின்றிருந்த தளபதிகள் தெய்வீகனை தொடர்பு கொள்ள முற்பட்ட வேளை தனது தொடர்புகள் அனைத்தையும் துண்டித்து விட்டு காணாமல் போயிருந்தவர். மீண்டும் 2010 ம் ஆண்டு தை மாதமளவில் இந்தியாவில் மதுரையில் நடமாடத் தொடங்கியிருந்தார்.
அவரோடு வெளியக புலனாய்வுத் துறையின் புகழேந்தி மற்றும் தென்னவன் அல்லது கரிகாலனும் மதுரையில் தங்கியிருந்து புலிகளின் அனைத்துலக செயலகத்தின் வெளிநாட்டு கிளைகளோடு தொர்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தி தாங்கள் இன்னமும் பலநூறு போராளிகளுடன் வன்னி காடுகளிற்குள்ளேயே நிற்பதாகவும் மறு பக்கம் கிழக்கு மாகாண காட்டிற்குள் ராமும் தங்களோடு தொடர்பில் இருப்பதாகவும் ராமின் தலைமையில் அடுத்த கட்ட தாக்குதல்களை நடத்துவதற்காக தங்களிற்கு ஆயுதங்களை பெறுவதற்காகவும் அத்தியாவசிய தேவைகளிற்காவும் நிதி உதவி கோரியிருந்தார்கள். அதை நம்பி அனைத்துலக செயலகமும் பணம் அனுப்பியிருந்தார்கள்.
அன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் தென்னவன் என்கிற கரிகாலனும் என்னுடன் தொர்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தி கதைத்திருந்தார். பணத்தை அனுப்பிவிட்டிருந்த அனைத்துலகச் செயலகத்தினர் தாக்குதல் எதுவும் நடக்காததால் ஏமாற்றமடைந்து ராமோடு தொடர்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தி ஏதாவது தாக்குதல் செய்தால் தான் இங்குள்ள மக்கள் நம்புவார்கள் அப்பொழுதான் பணம் சேகரித்து அனுப்பலாம் ஏதாவது தாக்குதலை செய்யும்படி கேட்டிருந்தனர். ஆனால் இது வரை காலமும் தலைவரின் கட்டளைக்கிணங்கவே தான் தாக்குதல்களை நடத்தியதாகவும் வெளிநாட்டிலிருந்து வரும் கட்டளைகளிற்கிணங்க தன்னால் இயங்க முடியாது தலைவரின் கட்டளை வராமல் தன்னால் எதையும் செய்ய முடியாதென ராம் எவ்வித தாக்குதலையும் செய்ய மறுத்து தெய்வீகனின் தொடர்பும் தனக்கு இல்லையென்று அவர்களிற்கு சொல்லிவிட்டிருந்தான். பின்னர் ராமிற்கும் எனக்கும் நடந்த உரையாடல்களின்போது அதை தெரித்திருந்தான். அன்றைய கால கட்டத்தில் தான் இலங்கை வான்படையின் உலங்கு வானுர்தியொன்று காலநிலை காரணமாக கட்டுப் பகுதியில் விபத்திற்குள்ளாக அதனை ராமின் தாக்குதலிற்குள்ளானதாக வெளிநாடுகளில் பிரச்சாரம் செய்யவும் அனைத்துலகம் முயன்றிருந்தது.
பின்னர் சில காலங்கள் தெய்வீகனின் தொடர்பு அறுந்து பேயிருந்ததோடு தென்னவன் (கரிகாலன் )பிரான்ஸ் வந்து சேர்ந்ததும் மீண்டும் அனைத்துலக செயலகம் மற்றும் பழைய வெளிநாட்டு கட்டமைப்பை சேர்ந்தவர்களோடு தொடர்புகளை ஏற்படுத்துகிறார். அப்பொழுது மீண்டும் என்னுடன் ஒரு தொடர்பையும் ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்தார். இவர்தான் தற்சமயம் அனைத்துலக செயலகத்தோடு சேர்ந்து நின்று தெய்வீகனால் அடுத்த கட்ட ஆயுத போரை வழிநடத்த முடியும் என்று அவர்களையும் நம்பவைத்து தெய்வீகனோடு தொடர்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தி கொடுத்துள்ளார். ஆயுதப் போர் நடக்கிதா இல்லையா அனைத்துலகம் மக்களையும்... தெய்வீகன் அனைத்துலகத்தையும் ஏமாற்றுகிறாரா என்பதை யெல்லாம் விட்டு விட்டு பார்த்தால். இறுதியாக மாவீரர் தினத்தின் போது யாழ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்து பிரச்சனைகளின் பின்னால் யாழில் பல மாணவர்கள் கைதுசெய்யப்பட்டனர். பின்னர் அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக தமிழ் நாட்டிலும் சில கைதுகள் நடந்து செய்திகளில் வெளிவந்தவைதான். ஆனால் அதன் பின்னால் இருந்த தெய்வீகனும் புகழேந்தியும் தமிழ் நாட்டில் மதுரையில் சுதந்திரமாகத்தான் நடமாடுகின்றார்கள். அதாவது இந்தியாவின் இலங்கை மீதான அடுத்த கட்ட மேலாதிக்க நடவடிக்கைகளிற்கு தொடர்ந்தும் பலியாக போவது நாங்களா?? அதற்கு அனுசரணை புலிகளின் வெளிநாட்டு கிளைகளான அனைத்துலக செயலகமா?? இது கேள்வி மட்டும் தான் பதில் எனக்கும் தெரியாது காலம்தான் பதில் சொல்லும். என சாஸ்த்திரி 2013 ஜனவரியில் எழுதியதற்கு 2014 ஏப்ரல் 11ல் இலங்கைப் பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சு பதில் சொல்லியிருக்கிறது.
இவையாவும் இப்படி அதிர்ச்சிகரமான தகவல்களோடு தொடர ஏப்ரல் 11ஆம் திகதி சம்பவத்தில் கொல்லப்பட்டதாக கூறப்படும் மற்றுமொருவரான குருநாகலைச் சேர்ந்த தமிழ்ப் புலனாய்வு அதிகாரியே தெய்வீகன் தொடர்பான விடயங்களை கவனித்து வந்ததாக சொல்லப்படுகிறது. கொக்காவில் முகாமில் கடமையாற்றிய இந்த புலனாய்வு அதிகாரி புலிகள் இயக்கத்திலும் புலனாய்வு செயற்பாட்டில் இருந்தவர் எனக் கூறப்படுகிறது. அதனாலேயே கொல்லப்பட்ட மூவர்தொடர்பான விடயங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட தகவல்கள் எக்காலத்திலும் வெளிவரக் கூடாது என்பதற்காக அவரும் சேர்த்துக் கொல்லப்பட்டதாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாகி உள்ளன.
இங்கு மற்றுமொரு விடயம் சுட்டிக் காட்டப்படவேண்டியது. சுட்டுக் கொல்லப்பட்ட குறித்த இராணுவப் புலனாய்வு அதிகாரி தான் புலிகளின் போராளி எனவும் படையினரின் அச்சுறுத்தல் காரணமாகவே இராணுவத்திற்காக தொழிற்படுவதாகவும் தெரிவித்ததோடு புலிகளை மிளக் கட்டி அமைத்து போராட வேண்டும் என்ற உத்வேகத்தை தெய்வீகன் உள்ளிட்ட மூவருக்கும் வழங்கியதாகவும் இவர்களுடன் தொடர்புடைய தரப்புகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
இதன் அடிப்படையிலேயே புலிகளை மீளக் கட்டி அமைப்பதற்கான செயத் திட்டங்களை மூவரும் வகுத்துள்ளனர். அதன் முதற்கட்ட நடவடிக்கையாகவே துண்டுப் பிரசுரங்கள் அச்சடித்து ஒட்டப்படும் நடவடிக்கைகள் உள்ளிட்டவை ஆரம்பமாகி இருந்தன.
இதற்கிடையில் இந்தியாவில் இருந்த கலையனின் குடும்பமும் அழைத்து வரப்பட்டு திருமலையில் தங்க வைக்கப்பட்டனர். நகரப் பகுதியில் அதிக விலைகொடுத்து வீடு ஒன்றை வாடகைக்கு அமர்த்தியதோடு வாகனக் கொள்வனவுகளையும் மேற்கொண்ட நிலையில் கலையனின் நடவடிக்கைகள் மீது அப்பன் கோபி ஆகியோருக்கு சந்தேகம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இதேவேளை கலையனுக்கு புலம்பெயர் தேசத்தில் இருந்து பெருமளவு பணம் கிடைக்கப் பெறுவதாக வும் அப்பன் தனது நண்பர்களுக்கு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இதனை அடுத்து குறித்த மூவரும் தன்னிச்சையாக தொழிற்பட தொடங்கியதாகவும, புணர்வாழ்வுக்கு உட்பட்டு விடுவிக்கப்பட்ட பலருடன் தனிப்பட்ட தொடர்புகளை இவர்கள் பேணியதாகவும், அவர்களே பின்னர் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட 65 பேர்களில் அடங்குவதாகம் கூறப்படுகிறது. இந்த நடவடிக்கைகள் இலங்கைப் படையினருக்கும் கலையனுக்கும் சீற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளன. இது குறித்து கலையன் தனக்கு நெருக்கமான ஒருவரிடம் கூறுகையில் ' நாமே உருவாக்கிவிட்ட இவர்கள் எமக்கே டிமிக்கி விட்டு தனியாக செயற்பட முற்படுகிறார்கள் எனக் கூறியுள்ளார்.
காரணம் கலையன் ஊடாக புலிகளை மீள இணைப்பதன் மூலம் அவர்களை தமது கட்டுப்பாட்டில் வைத்திருக்க முடியும் என படையினரும், கோபி, அப்பன், தெய்விகனூடாக பல நடவடிக்கைகளில் இறங்குவதன் ஊடாக புலம்பெயர் அமைப்புகளிடம் இருந்து பெரும் பணத்தினை பெறமுடியும் என கலையனும் நம்பியிருந்தனர்.
மறுபக்கம் இவ்வாறு உருவாக்கப்படும் அமைப்பிற்கு முன்னாள் போராளிகள் எந்த வகையில் ஆதரவுகளை வழங்குவார்கள், என்ற ஆய்வைப் பெறுவது.
புலிகள் மீள உருவாகினால் பொதுமக்கள் தரப்பில் எத்தகைய ஆதரவு இருக்கிறது, மனநிலை எப்படி என்பது பற்றி அறிவது, புலம்பெயர் அமைப்புகள் செயற்பாட்டாளர்கள் எப்படி ஆதரவு வழங்குவர்கள், புலிகளின் மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்டு இருக்கும் சொத்துக்கள் வெளிவருமா? என்ற கோணத்தில் எல்லாம் அரசாங்க தரப்பு பயனை எட்ட நினைத்தது.. அதில் ஓரளவு பயனைப் பெற்றும் இருக்கிறது.
இந்த நிலையில் தெய்வீகன் படையினரது கட்டுப்பாட்டில் தொடர்ந்து செயற்பட்ட போதும், கலையனதும் படையினரதும் நடவடிக்கைகளை விளங்கி, இனம் கண்டு, கோபியும் அப்பனும் தனித்து செயற்பட தொடங்கியுள்ளனர். இவ்வாறான சூழலில் கலையனையும் படையினரையும் விட்டு விலகி தொடர்புகளை துண்டித்த போதுதான் இவர்களை கைது செய்ய படையினர் சுற்றிவளைப்பு தேடுதல்களை மேற்கொண்டு உள்ளனர். முக்கியமாக வட்டுக்கொட்டை சுற்றிவளைப்பின் போது, மன்னாரைச் சேர்ந்த ஒருவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். மறுநாள் அந்தப் பகுதியில் மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் ஒன்றில் அப்பன் பயனித்ததாகவும், பின்னிருக்கையில் பயனித்தவர் கோபியாக இருக்கலாம் எனவும் கருதப்படுகிறது. படையினரால் சுற்றிவளைக்கப்பட்ட பகுதியில் சென்று மறைந்திருப்பது ஆபத்தில்லை என உணர்ந்து பெரும் பொதியுடன் சென்று இவர்கள் தங்கியிருந்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது.
இந்த நிலையில் வன்னியிலும் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் வட்டுக்கோட்டை, சித்தங்கேணிப் பகுதிகளில் சுற்றி வளைப்பை மேற்கொண்ட போதே கோபி மற்றும் அப்பன் ஆகியோர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு விட்டனர்.
கோபி கொல்லப்படுவதற்கு 3 நாட்களுக்கு முன்னதாகவே (08.04.14) அவர்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதை தாம் உறுதிப்படுத்தியாக யாழ்ப்பாணதின் மூத்த ஊடகவியலாளர் ஒருவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். மற்றும் ஒரு முன்னாள் போராளியும் இவரது கைதை உறுதிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். இவர்களுடன் ஏற்கனவே தமது கட்டுப்பாட்டுள் இருந்த தெய்வீகனும் கொல்லப்படுவதற்குத் தயார்ப்படுத்தப்பட்டு வைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தார். அதன் வழி 10.04.14) அன்று இரவே இவர்கள் அருகாமையில் இருந்து சுட்டுக் கொல்லப்பட்டனர் எனினும் மறுநாள் காலை பெரும் எண்ணிக்கையிலான படையினருடன் பெரும் தாக்குதல் நடவடிக்கை ஒன்றை மேற்கொண்டதான பீடிகையுடன் ஊடக மாநாட்டிற்கான ஒளிப்படங்களுடன் 11ஆம் திகதி 8.30 மணியவிலேயே கோபி, அப்பன், தெய்வீகன் ஆகிய மூவரும் கொல்லப்பட்டதாகவும் தமது தரப்பிலும் ஒருவர் கொல்லப்பட்டதாகவும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலும் படைப் புலனாய்வாளர்கள் தகவலை கசிய விட்டு இருந்தனர்.
கொல்லப்பட்ட பின்பு கூட இவர்களின் சடலங்கள் முல்லைத் தீவு, கிளிநொச்சி மாவட்டங்களைத் தாண்டி பதவியா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்டு, அங்கேயே பிரேத பரிசோதனைகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு, நீதவான் விசாரணையும் அனுராதபுரத்திற்கு மாற்றப்பட்டு நாடகம் முடிவுக்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது. அது மட்டும் அல்லாமல் உறவினர்களிடம் சடலம் ஒப்படைக்கப்படாமல் அரச செலவிலேயே அடக்கமும் செய்யப்பட்டது.
அரசாங்கத்தினதும் படைகளதும் புலனாய்வாளர்களதும் அனைத்து நடவடிக்கைகளுமே இந்தக் கொலைகள் கூட்டுப் படுகொலைகள் என்பதனை நினைவுபடுத்துவதோடு புலிகளின் முன்னாள் தளபதிகளில் ஒருவரான கருணா என்ற அமைச்சர் விநாயகமூர்த்தி முரளீதரன் சொன்னார் 'ஜெனீவா முடிந்ததும் இரண்டு ஒரு பேருக்கு யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் வெடி விழும் என்று' மூன்று மாத்திற்கு முன்பாக முற்கூட்டியே குறிப்பிட்டிருந்ததாக கூறியுள்ளார். ஆயின் இவர்களை அரசாங்கம் பலியாக்கப் போகிறது என்பதனை கருணா முன்னரே அறிந்திருந்தார்.
இதன் மூலம் பலரது சந்தேகங்களுக்கும் அதனையும் தாண்டிய விவாதங்களுக்கும் இலங்கை அரசாங்கத்தின் கோமாளித் தனங்களே சரியான பதிலையும் தெளிவையும் அம்பலப்படுத்தல்களையும் தந்திருக்கின்றன.
